We arrived on site to be welcomed by a stern gentleman wearing C&MC corporate polo shirt. We explained we had asked for a disabled pitch as wife is registered disabled and were bluntly told "we don't have disabled pitches". I went on to explain to him we'd joined the club because of this site's proximity to Henley and Marlow and when we'd done a site inspection before joining we were told they have disabled pitches near wash block, but if not pitch 40 or 43 which were designated, then we would be given a pitch near there. He remained adamant that wasn't the case, but that as wife was disabled he'd reserved plot 67 for us, opposite wash block, but make sure I don't run his cone over that he'd reserved it with!! Following our communication issues, we found plot 67 to be fantastic, only a short walk to the amenity block and lovely level hard standing. We had a wonderful few days and didn't really suffer too badly from the road noise. I have to say that the cleanliness and quality of the showers was worth an extra star on their own. Hot water that stays on and an area for your clothes that stays dry. We have found our new favourite campsite close to Henley and Marlow, I'll just send the wife in to speak to Grumpy, or see if we can make him laugh before the year is finished! Or I suppose we could speak to his wife...... Oh and I didn't break his cone, in case anyone wants to know?
