Beautiful location, and such friendly staff.

We only here for one night, as a stop over on our way back home. Wish we had stayed longer. This site is in a beautiful location. A real gem. The staff were so welcoming when we arrived. It is further to the canal that I first thought, but the roads are so quiet, and once on the canal - it was a beautiful 1hr walk to the pub for tea. Love the place. Will definitely return to explore the stunning area a little more.

First trip of 2021

Stayed 4 nights on this site. Have been once before, so knew what to expect. Not at all busy when we arrived, so had a good choice of pitches. Not difficult to find something level. The site filled up over the bank holiday weekend, but it never felt overcrowded. Its a very quiet and peaceful place with some nice walks and cycle rides direct from the site. The local roads/lanes are quiet, but are narrow and are not in good condition. Also, the signage is not always particularly good, so a local map would have been useful. However, that said we always found our way back without too much difficulty. We didn't have any need to ask anything of the wardens, but they were always friendly and cheerful when spoken to. The site is spacious, well maintained and very clean and tidy.

Short break or Stopover

Although we stayed here for 2 nights as a stopover travelling North there are things to do if you have a short stay. We visited Shugborough estate (NT) where you can easily spend a day. There are also several local walks/ cycle ride from the site. The warden is happy to provide printed sheets of these. The wardens are friendly and it is a nice quiet site. Own facilities are required and some pitches do not have awning space. There are several seasonal pitches. Local pubs were closed during our visit due to Covid but we had a good Indian take away from Momtaj Spice in Wheaton Aston. Approach roads are narrow so do follow instructions in Club handbook. Facilities and cleanliness rating pertains to Cleanliness as there are no facilities.

Enjoyable visit

This was our first time to this site, the wardens are lovely and greeted us at the entrance when we arrived, some of the pitches had weeds on them, we stayed on a non awning pitch, however it was big enough to put the canopy up when needed. Lanes are narrow but manageable if you take care. Due to COVID we couldn’t eat at the local pub but we did get a takeout from the Indian restaurant in the village, the food was fantastic. Overall a basic but nice and quiet site and for £42 for 3 nights it was a bargain.

Delightfully remote

Once you've navigated the narrow roads to the site, it's a wonderfully peaceful haven from the outside world. What the site lacks in facilities, it more than makes up in charm, and the site staff were amongst the friendliest we've encountered in our travels. We went for somewhere to go during the end of lockdown, but we're now really looking forward to going back.

A bit of peace and quiet!

This was our first visit here as a stopover on a journey North. A very peaceful and quiet site set in the countryside. It does not have the slick formal feel of some of the bigger sites but that in itself is quite charming. The access - it has to be said is not for the faint hearted as the roads are narrow but do have passing places. We were lucky in that we met very little traffic on these narrow lanes so we had no problems. The staff here are fantastic, the wardens welcoming, ground staff delayed doing some noisy garden work so we could finish our lunch in peace, little things are much appreciated. We had a really pleasant stay here.

Quiet Site

Out again at last... Second visit to this very quiet site with the wardens being very friendly. Site looks like it could do with a bit of a spruce up as things like the hard standing pitches being full of weeds and drive over drain is of the old fashioned lift the cover very out dated. Make sure you read the details for access as local roads from the wrong direction are narrow. Coming from the A5 side is OK just take your time. Wish the club would make more non toilet block sites as they are cheaper and usually much quieter especially mid week.

Desperately needs attention!!

We have been using this site on and off quite regularly over the years, love the peace and quiet with lovely helpful wardens a bonus. However, on our recent visits it has become apparent that some money needs to be spent by the club, particularly on the hardstanding pitches. The weed growth encroaching on to some of the pitches, is quite simply not acceptable. I am led to believe that using weedkillers is not possible. (health and safety?) That said, something needs to be done and soon or hard standing pitches will just become weed standing pitches!! It was also noted that the grass generally was quite long and grass cutting appears not to be as frequent as it used to be, is this policy now? So come on Club Treasurer spend some money and improve this little gem of a site, please!!!

Unbelievably kind and helpful managers!

I have found nothing but kindness and helpfulness from every CCS I've visited so far but the couple at High Onn are in a league of their own in this respect. The gentleman(in every sense of the word) who had fixed my wing mirror for me on my first visit in July, went out on his way, on his "day off" to ensure that I was prepared for the maze of roads to get me back on the A5. A brilliant couple in a beautifully maintained site. Stayed there on way back north last time and going south this time, and it is a great peaceful break after a days driving.. not easy to find with or without sat nav though.? A road sign or two would be helpful. I was assisted on the way in by a generous local who drove to it with me behind her... so locals are friendly too. Wiĺl use again..probably every time I go down south as it is ideally placed for about the time when I need a break... And you really do feel like you've had a break!

Forth time here and it never fails to hit the spot. Always come away from here relaxed and happy.

Only fault this time is local farmer must have changed his field dressing as flies were more in evidence than ever. Take plenty of spray as we were eaten alive. But will return probably in a different month.
