Home from Home

My wife and I have been coming to this site for a number of years and never fail to appreciate the excellent care and attention given to its upkeep by the Site Wardens.  Immaculate facilities and compact layout make this our home from home. Very conveniently located to most places in this part of England, it is a great base to explore from, or just sit and enjoy n ice bit of quiet down time.  No WiFi yet but radio and TV reception is very good, as are the pre-assembled cream tea kits available from the Site Office.  We actually miss the place in the winter season!  Highly recommended. :)

Caravanning in Somerset.

Spent four very relaxing days at the site. Facilities & cleanliness were superb. I concur with a previous reviewer that the access to the site from the A303 was a bit fraught considering the volume of traffic using the road. Some sort of signage might be appropriate about 400 yards before the turn off to the site! Not much for youngsters or children to do on site, but all in all a very pleasant way to spend a few days without travelling more than 60 miles.

Excellent club site with superb facilities.

This Caravan Club site is truly a hidden gem, lovely country views and with a newly built high quality toilet and washroom block, easily accessed by disabled persons. A great peaceful and relaxing site especially for adults touring. A short drive to the amazing Jurassic Coast, it is well located to visit a host of attractive towns and villages. Walking and National Garden attractions can be easily reached from this destination, making this holiday destination in Somerset an undiscovered jewel in the English landscape. This will become one of the more popular sites in the South West. It would be great if there were a few more hard standings to allow the site to be open all year round, especially for seasonal pitches!

Excellent site and area

As we are new to caravaning we found the staff very helpful the site was very well layed out and the toilet/showers were very well maintained.   Things to note telephone signal (Vodafone) was poor.    The turning off the A303 is narrow and getting onto the A303 from the access road is not easy. Had a great 5days over Easter and will return to this site in the future

Nice site

Stayed here for a one night stopover on the way to Cornwall. Lovely friendly welcome by the wardens , nice peaceful site with great facilities. Will definitely consider this site again for more than a stopover.

Stopover

Had a 'stopover' for six nights, visiting family locally and enjoying the local area. Generally peaceful site, but with some road noise. Main downside is the access from the A303...great care is needed! Good facilities, recently modernised. Be sure to sample the local pubs, especially the Flintlock in Marsh and the Candlelight Inn in Bishopswood.

peaceful site

Stayed for 5 nights and cycled to Chard, Barrington Hall, Montecute house and other National Trust properties. The site sits at one of the highest points in the area, and the roads within an area of a mile or two around it are very steep. However, once you are North of the site you are in the Somerset flat lands, with great villages and historic places. I agree with others regarding the junction with A303 and there should be clearer signage to warn of this crossroads. There is a 50mph limit on this stretch, and most drivers seemed to be complying.  One special note regarding the new toilet block.......the best I have seen. Great design and and first class fittings, which should be copied by other CC sites.

Ilminster

A very pleasant place to overnight in, friendly helpful staff, clean amenities and peaceful settings. The only thing we have a problem is with the turning into the road off the A303. This is a very nasty turning into the lane and out of it. It's hard to see traffic coming from either side and it could be a potential death trap.

Illminster for a night

A nice small site in the Blackdown hills. Not a particularly nice approach into the narrow lane from the A303, but worth the effort. The wardens were very helpful the site and facilities were very clean, and it was a great place to stop over on our journey South West.
