Excellent site with some serious downsides

A beautiful site with a layout very different from the usual regimented pitches. Friendly, helpful, staff and good facilities. But there are some downsides. Despite being in the ‘silver’ Wi-Fi category, the service was, in fact, hopeless. We (and we were by no means alone) didn’t manage to connect once in ten days, despite drawing the attention of staff to the problem. The TV connections on our EHU were both broken. But far, far, more serious, was the almost total disregard of the 5mph speed limit (even, I’m afraid to say, by members of staff in their electric buggies). Our pitch was adjacent to a site roadway and it was not at all unusual to see vehicles travelling at speeds in excess of 15mph (and on at least three occasions at a speed I calculated to be in excess of 20mph). This pitch (and others like it) would have been extremely dangerous for anyone with children. There are a few ‘sleeping policemen’ on site roads but by no means enough. I have been a Club member for 35 years and this is just about the worst site speeding I have ever seen. The Club really needs to do more to curb this dangerous behaviour.

This site not alone in respect of speeding. Have come to believe that most modern cars/drivers incapable of less than 15mph. Difficult for staff but fatal incident will occur if something not done.

There is no excuse for not to keeping to 5mph. Keep in first gear and the vehicle will usually maintain 5mph. Trying to blame the vehicle is a lame excuse. The driver should be in control of the vehicle not the other way round. I have witnessed cars moving from 1st gear, then to 2nd gear and more often than not into 3rd and there is no wonder they are travelling in excess of 5mph
