Above and beyond

Recently returned from this site after not visiting for 12 years. We had a stay at Hawes but could not book for Sunday night so moved to Leyburn. Upon arrival we were greeted by a lovely young couple who were so friendly and welcoming it also helps when it's glorious weather, we told which pitches were available so we picked pitch 59 a blue peg perfect. Once set up a walk into Leyburn for a look round and a couple of beers 🍻. Once back at site the sun was still glorious but I hadn't packed the chairs so the wonderful wardens offered us their chairs what a lovely thing to do in our eyes we can only say thankyou, they are a fantastic advert for the club. The site facilities are slightly dated but certainly not as bad as some reviews state, they are very clean and more than do the job. We will definitely be back and not leave it 12 years this time. Thanks to the wardens and good luck to them in the future 👍

Value for money.

Lower Wensleydale club campsite is a lovely site, just returned from a 9 day stay . Friendly wardens, clean and well kept this is reflected in the site fees.If your looking for all the bells and whistles then this site is not for you. When the club refurbishes it's sites up go the nightly fees, so this sight is a rare find with full facility's and hard standings if a little uneven at fair nightly fees.A a long standing club member this site is a little gem. Good location but very poor facilities

We have just returned from 2 nights at Lower Wensleydale. The site is set in a lovely area, there is a “babbling brook” running down the side of the site and its lovely and peaceful. However the site is woefully outdated. Both the male and female bathroom blocks are poor with water running across the floor from the shower areas in both. There is no seat area in the shower to keep your stuff off the floor so unless you can hang it up, it will get wet. The ventilation is very poor so the bathrooms are damp. There are some pitches that look level, but the one we were on, number 13 was not close to level and there were quite a few more that looked similar. With a toilet block makeover and an hour or too with a small digger, this place could be sorted and then the site would match the quality of the surroundings. Overall, this is the worst club site we have visited since we joined 5 years ago.

Low Voltage affecting Fridge/Freezer & Microwave

During our stay we experienced problems on each day with our fridge/freezer beeping due to low voltage on the site. Campers either side of us experienced the same also. The microwave took longer than normal to reheat items.

SEPTEMBER 2022

Lovely quirky site with different sizes of pitches, immaculate facilities if a bit dated. Fabulous walks from the site and handy for Leyburn with nice pubs - Golden Lion does fantastic food.

September 22

Just stayed for 10 nights. Eddie and Cathy were fantastic site managers. Very Friendly and helpful. Although regular caravaners, it was our first time with a puppy. We were advised which pitches would be best for her to have freedom to wander on a tether without intruding on neighbours. Amenities not the most modern but kept clean and had everything we needed. Thanks for a great stay, hope to be back soon.

Busy But Nice

This site is nice, but fairly busy always people coming and going just what to expect on a club site in summer, its a good spot to explore Wenslydale,Swaledale,Richmond and Catterick we had good weather for the week so we enjoyed it all. the site has an interesting layout and is well kept and within walking distance from the chocolate factory,Leyburn market town is just 5 mins away in the car so give it a go it will not dissappoint.

2 night stay in North Yorkshire

Delightful smaller quiet club site. Good value! Staff always friendly and helpful. The site we chose was perfect on the balcony. I would say the pitches are slightly smaller than other club sites we have been to but we fitted a campervan and awning on well. Toilets and shower facilities always clean and spotless. Only drawback for us was the dog area was very small though fenced off nicely and no dog walks straight from the site that we found. Leyburn is a lovely town with good food and drink facilities. I think it’s about a 30 minute walk but we didn’t test it. Local pub the pheasant is 10mins walk from site, drinks only, but didn’t try it. We would definitely recommend it and use again.

3 night break

Stayed here for the first time and what a great site, yes the weather helped , but cannot fault it nice friendly staff who were very friendly. Around 25 mins walk into Leyburn which has a large Co-op store quite a few pubs nice out door seating, great butchers shop plus other shops. Found this to be a great relaxing 3 nights away, highly recommend 👍👍

Lovely site with welcoming, friendly and helpful wardens

A vist to this site is a lovely experience. Greatly enhanced by Kath and Eddie who are the most welcoming, friendly and helpful wardens. They make such a difference to the whole experience of visiting. The site itself is delightful and interesting with a tranquil and relaxing atmosphere. It is brilliantly situated for road cycling with a choice of tougher routes (such as crossing Grinton Moor from either Leyburn or Redmire - or both on a circular route) or less demanding routes towards Newton-le-Willows. During a very brief stay I didn't have time to explore the running much. Both Kath and Eddie are accomplished triathletes and are able to advise on cycling and running. Yes, the facilities are rather dated and not up to modern standards. But I found them totally adequate. And they are kept spotless. There are two aspects of the site which are less than ideal, which have been mentioned in other reviews. One is the lack of wifi. There is none on pitches (no masts, and as a managed, rather than owned, site the Club is unlikely to invest in masts). The one time I tried to use my tablet sitting on the bench outside reception there was no internet connection. More serious is the access. Especially for a motorhome leaving the site for a trip out after 1.00 pm when there is a real risk of meeting an outfit coming the other way causing the motorhome to have to reverse a fair distance. Those with a car need have less concern. But overall this is a lovely site with the most lovely wardens.
