A site with a view

Located on the edge of the village of Lydford with views onto Dartmoor this is an excellent base for walking and visiting the places of interest in the surrounding area. A walk of approximately a mile back to the main road takes you to an excellent farm shop, their bacon and meat is not to be missed, and then you can cross over the road onto the moor. The site is basically three fields, the upper, where the best views are, is reserved in the main for tents, the other two for caravans and campers. The field furthest from reception is slightly lower than the first and does not have WIFI coverage, which is free on site. There is a WIFI 'hotspot' in the laundry room with a table and chairs. The facilities are clean and tidy, perhaps not quite to the standard of the latest Club ones, and there is loads of hot water. The staff are very friendly and helpful, even to the point of offering longer hook up cables should you require them. All in all nothing to complain about and we would certainly consider returning in the future.

Excellent site for exploring Dartmoor with fantastic staff.

Beautiful position for visiting Dartmoor and a little further afield the North or South Devon coast. On arrival at the site although a little early we were met by the friendly staff who walked us around the site to find a suitable pitch. Now Lydford has the most beautiful views of the moors so the selection of the pitch to suit your vantage point for the stunning views is important. With tents on the top field and a mix of motorhomes and vans elsewhere on the site and non members welcome we felt the site was friendlier that most CC sites.  Yes we will be back and hopefully the shower block and wash facilities will have been updated, they are looking a bit jaded but nevertheless very clean. The village of Lydford is very beautiful and the NT Lydford Gorge walk (about 3 mile round trip - 2 hours) is well worth the effort with waterfalls, trout pools and a thunderous pot hole cauldron at the end absolute magic. If you fancy a night off from cooking at the Castle Inn pub is well worth a visit. Excellent choice of bar meals or restaurant. Top site let down (a little) by the facilities. Thanks to all the staff for their friendliness.

Excellent quiet Site

Phil & Sandra from North Lincolnshire (Caravan Club members for many years) have just had an excellent 8 nights on this clean and well managed site in Lydford. All the management staff were some of the most helpful people we have ever met and nothing was to much trouble. The site is very well kept and the toilet block is spotlessly clean, we would not hesitate in using the site in the future.

A great weekend

After 40 years of camping under canvas, we decided to buy a motorhome and join the Caravan Club. Via the website, we found this campsite in Lydford and decided on this for our first motorhome adventure. What a great choice! The welcome was friendly and helpful despite the fact that we arrived very late due to traffic. Never the less, we were given a choice of excellent pitches, each with an excellent view of Dartmoor. We were also given leaflets and advice on local walking as well as an opportunity to browse the used book section in the reception area. The money raised from this is used to fundraise for local projects. As recommended, the walking in Lydford Gorge was excellent. The site was really very well  cared for by staff, spotlessly clean and peaceful. We can't recommend it enough.

Great for that short break.

Just returned from a 5 day stay at Lydford, what a lovely site. The wardens were pleasant  and very helpful. The toilet facilities were spotless and the site well laid out.Local pub, the Castle serves good food and bus service very good. Only downside if you have Vodaphone the signal is non existent. If you've Not visited this site it's well worth a visit, great countryside with excellent walks.

What a fantastic site

Having just returned from a 7 day break at the Lydford site, can we say what a fantastic place this is. Hazel and Ian the park managers and their team never stop working to achieve what must be one of the friendliest and well kept sites with the cleanest facilities we have ever been to. The views from the site are breath taking and we would recommend this site to anyone.
