Fabulous Site

Stayed here for 3 nights in March. I booked by phone & the lady was really friendly & informative about the area. The Managers were really friendly. We didn't see any other staff while we were there. Lovely site. Some great views of the moors from certain pitches. The site has the only shop in the village so make sure you have adequate provisions. It's an easy half mile walk to the Lydford Gorge (National Trust approx. £10 per adult if not a member) which is beautiful but ask staff if you have any concerns about the paths as some are quite tricky & one-way. We cycled the Granite Way to Okehampton - which is nine miles each way & starts on the edge of the village. Very safe cycling with a gentle graduation. Easy for those of us with electric bikes. There is a tea room in Okehampton station at the end of the route. Stunning views on the cycle route & a reservoir which we will visit another time. The castle in the village was actually a gaol. The pub next door - the Castle Inn - did lovely food. Book a table as it gets very busy. We will return to this site.
