Why not Return !

As a returning caravanner I obviously appreciate the site despite some short-comings which others have mentioned e.g. rather smelly elsan disposal point, the need to re-furbish the toilet block even though the wardens do a tremendous job keeping it spotlessly clean, refilling soap dispensers and keeping a plentiful supply of toilet paper. The washing-up and laundry facilities again are kept very clean. The wardens greeted us by name, with a friendly smile and nothing was too much trouble. They never appear to stop working or planning and executing their next project.Their local knowledge was very good and we enjoyed the bonus of a half-hour visit from the local pipe band ( in full uniform ) who treated us to a delightful display of playing and marching. During our stay in June we had an opportunity to see approximately 200 horsemen, women and children riding out to mark the town's boundaries- quite a sight ! Many of the Borders towns continue this tradition. The new Co-Op is just five minutes from the site and the remainder of the town, with its independent shops is always worth exploring. The Abbey is always worth a visit and, besides the Rugby 7's there is a very good Book Fair in June. Will we visit again - absolutely.
