What sort of member are you?

Visited this site from 22nd to 25th August. I have been a member of the Caravan and Motorhome Club for nearly 20 years ,16 years as a caravanner and then after a break of 4 years, 4 years as a Motorhome owner. How I felt for those poor Wardens in amongst the midst of this pandemic? The site has 177 pitches and as has been commented on by previous reviewers the toilet/shower block facilities had been reduced by half. Okay one can understand the need for the Club to comply with current regulations but why didn’t the club just reduce the number of pitches accordingly? I witnessed, individuals queuing for the facilities. I also witnessed the lack of social distancing, the people who felt it okay to do dishwashing in the laundry sinks, the individuals who felt it okay to shower in the family rooms, that should have been dedicated for young families and not the older more mature members, and the children playing around the toilet blocks and service point areas, despite numerous signage asking them not to . Now on the latter point maybe some of those children were too young to read and understand the notice but there is what is called parental responsibility. It is not down to the Wardens to Police this. It is ultimately the My next statement will probably make me unpopular amongst my fellow Motorhomers/Caravanners. I walked around the site and observed a large percentage of modern caravans and Motorhomes which would be priced well in excess of £20000 and all with the mod cons, in particular, onboard washrooms, onboard toilets, wash basins and even showers so why would those of you who owned those caravans/motorhomes need to use the onsite facilities? You can understand why people in older units and campervans would use the on site facilities but why would the owners of these modern units need to use the onsite facilities especially as they had been requested to use their own facilities if they had them? To the Club Management.- Why didn’t you reduce the number of pitches on the sites to allow for the reduction in facilities? Alternatively, why didn’t you just close the toilet block facilities leaving the service points and chemical waste points open and ensure that everyone staying on site knew that that was the case and had to use their own facilities. At least by doing that you would have supported your Wardens against the constant abuse that they appear to be taking. Why during the pandemic didn’t you restrict the use of sites to members only? I wish I could have rated this site higher, if nothing else in support of the Wardens, who worked tirelessly against the odds. The Club needs to start valuing their Wardens and their Members. All the Club seems interested in nowadays is money. I hope the Executive Management get to read my review because they need to change, and change quickly otherwise they stand to lose members not gain them. We used to be a members club. Sadly it doesn't seem that way anymore

Well said you👍 Totally agree the site staff work hard to give the members a nice place to have their holiday, only for some of them to abuse it and the staff, their are some horrible people out there.

And as far as the club is concerned " money, money, money "

We had long conversation with the wardens about access to Club facilities and whether or not this should be restricted to only those members without Onboard facilities. The general view was that everyone pays the same price for their pitch so should have the same access to facilities, and also difficult to “police”.  They are working really hard in very difficult circumstances without adding to the duties resulting from Covid!
