Have stayed on this site three times in the past few months, in a campervan towing a small car .First two visits were brilliant with extremely nice and helpful staff (Zoe and Sam).
As is often the case at club sites, we were told “find a pitch you like and just let us know which one you’re on”. Having done this and found the pitch we preferred, went back to the office and told them which pitch we had picked. The site was quite busy but by no means full.
On the second occasion we already knew the pitch we wanted - it was the one we’d previously used so, as it was free, that was the one we used.
Now to get to the point - last visit (16th &17th Nov) - we booked in, asked if “our” pitch was free - it was - so advised the new manager ( Zoe and Sam had gone) that’s where we’d be.
As you’d expect, at this time of year the site was less than a third full so what’s the issue?
Well, as we were setting up on “our” pitch ( white pegs ie hard standing with awning) along comes the new manager to say there is a problem - we’d booked a pitch with no awning (blue pegs) so we couldn’t stay on the white peg pitches.
He was quite correct, I had indeed booked a non-awning pitch because we would not be using our awning due to the weather but, and here’s the rub, when I asked if the site was fully booked for our two night stay, it wasn’t.
So, would it have been a problem for anybody if we’d used our preferred pitch? You’d probably think not but -
Yes, because we’d booked online and there could be another 30+ members suddenly coming for those two nights who’d also booked online so those white peg pitches had to be kept free.
“It’s your fault because you booked a non-awning pitch, not mine”
Of course the new manager is absolutely correct and Rules are Rules so what am I rabbiting on about?
Could a little bit of common sense have prevailed? “Our” pitch wasn’t used nor the four adjacent during our stay. When we left on the Saturday morning there were at least 25 unit on this 49 pitch site.
Anyway, the moral of this tale is - it’s NOT a criticism of Minehead Club site, which we definitely will use again, but a warning to everyone - make sure that you book the correct pitch!

Nice site on edge of Minehead
Our second visit here. We stayed 3 nights in a campervan in mid October. Good, clean, well kept site. Friendly welcome. Toilet block clean. I like the inclusion of 2 separate WCs which is handy when main toilets are closed for daily cleaning. Several landscaped sections on different levels. Some pitches are flat, some you need ramps. On site dog walk. Plenty of info on local bus times etc. in the information room. It's a good base for walking on hills just behind Minehead (Grabbist, etc) or for touring along the coast or to Exmoor, all quite close. Tip: we like to walk along to the harbour and then up North Hill to very picturesque Old Town area.
Lovely site. Clean and tidy.
Although this is a lovely site, it does need more information about buses, where to get it, what times and how frequent. It is certainly not a 15 minute walk into town. If you are walking fast and striding out maybe but not a pleasant walk. Nor is the walk to Dunster an easy or short walk. More info on the route to walk and bus timetables with where to get them.
Also the West Somerset Railway is on the seafront and there was no information on where or when it was or buses we could get to it. We found it by accident. Minehead itself, the Railway and Dunster Castle are all worth visiting.

Great Site
Stayed here a few times - site is very well maintained and toilet/shower facilities , although a bit dated , are very clean.Zoe and Sam are absolute stars and do a fantastic job and couldn't be more cheerful and helpful.Thank you!
This site never disappoints
My wife and I visit Minehead CAMC site every year. Sam and Zoe the wardens always make us so welcome. The site is superbly maintained with the grass between the pitches cut regularly and before every new arrival. The area around reception is decorated with flowers and cheery artwork. The toilet block, although dated by current standards, is kept immaculately clean. There is a well stocked information room together with a book and DVD lending library.
We will continue to return.
Disappointed
Site was full on arrival we had the last pitch on the top tier , couldn’t get caravan level due to length luckily plenty of other pitches were available the follow day so we could move . The pitches on the top level are really not up to CMHC standards. Site is in a good location however wouldn’t go again. Facilities were clean but dated .
Lovely Site
Another Stay at the Minehead club site. Our third visit this year. One of our favourite sites. Near to town, a shortish walk. But nice a calm and peaceful in the evening.
In an old quarry so different levels . But lots of mature trees etc. wardens are ever so nice. As is “Mouse” the resident lurcher. CoOp and chip shop 5 min walk away.
Pub is a little further.
I just adore coming here.
Lovely Quiet Site close to Town and Beach
This is a lovely site, quite small but secluded and quiet. The wardens were lovely and friendly and the site is well kept. The amenity block of toilets, showers etc and washing up facilities are kept really clean and well decorated. Planters outside the amenity block and around the site were looking lovely on my June visit. Some of the pitches have a slight slope to them. Ensure you have pegs that will go into hard ground for awnings, toilet tents etc. and some pitches need a longer EHU cable.
There are shops and a pub 5-10 minutes walk away, a bus stop too and the High Street takes about 20 minutes walk depending how fast you walk!
Highly recommend stopping here.
Worth a visit
This site was in a good location for walking to Minehead seafront, walking to local Co-op and walking to a nearby park. Friendly welcoming wardens, dog walk in some trees, hilly on site. Park very close for children and to walk the dog. Overall no complaints. Probably wouldn't visit again as we ve seen what there is to see.
