Marvellous Minehead

We have visited Minehead site many times and enjoy coming here with the campervan as it is easy to walk to many places. We walked to Dunster and the castle and like walking up to the old town and North Hill and there are recommended walks on the visit Minehead site. Shame that access to the dog - friendly beach is not very easy though. Great little cinema in town that is very reasonably priced too. Be sure to take a trip on the steam railway too and if you have children its worth having a day pass to Butlins.

Excellent site

We have just spent a lovely week at this lovely site which is well managed by very pleasant wardens.Having read a lot of reviews I really have nothing much else to say other than a big "thank you" to Zoe,Sam & Mouse. Will be back again. My only other comment would be to ask members to read the arrivals information and observe the site speed limit which is there for a reason, thank you.

Good chippie nearby

You'd have to be a fast walker to get to anywhere of interest in Minehead in 15 minutes from the site! I was aware of being a bit early at Minehead site and looked out on the approach for somewhere to pull in. But didn't see anything. Still, plenty of space to park and in no one's way and happy to wait half an hour to book in at 1pm. But no got a warden who was worried that I might block the fire station (okay a queue of half a dozen of us might have blocked the fire station and assuming the driver who did so was daft enough to do that) and had to move, although in fairness not off site. There is a small CoOp, fish and chip shop and other takeaways a few minutes walk away. Had some very good fish and chips.

Set arrival time

We turned up at 12:00 after a 3 hour journey and was told by warden that we were early and couldn’t wait on site and would have to go off site and park up for an hour. This was our first visit to site and didn’t know area and when we asked where was a suitable local parking space for car and caravan told to visit a supermarket. Initially told we couldn’t access any area of site to wait until 1:00 but allowed to enter park to turn around before having to exit site for 1 hour. Noticed there were a few areas we could wait but didn’t want to disobey wardens orders so spent an hour having to go through Minehead’s narrow streets with caravan looking for a supermarket, trying to fill 1 hour before we could go back onto site. Accept there are office hours and wardens have other duties but think this was unreasonable . Warden informed us this was now CC policy and if they allowed discretion to one person they would have to allow it to everyone. Not come across this on any other site and have been a member for many years.

stay at Minehead over Jubilee weekend.

We recently had a 4 day stay at the Minehead site. It is a super site. Always very clean .The staff are exceptional and so helpful. The site is close to many amenities and places to see. I highly recommend a stay here. We have been several times before and its been brilliant each time we have stayed.

Top site.

This site is very well located to both relax, eat out and explore Exmoor. It is complimented by the hard working, conscientious and friendly site staff. The site is well maintained and has a good atmosphere, well done to the wardens both long term and the current relief staffđź‘Źđź‘Źđź‘Ź

Unpleasant confrontation with relief warden

I should probably preface this review by stating that the permanent site wardens, Sam and Zoe, are a really lovely couple and an absolute credit to the CMC. They were very excited to meet our 13 week old Border Collie and were keen to introduce him to their dog Mouse. Sadly (for us), halfway through our stay, Sam and Zoe embarked on a well-deserved break. They were replaced by temporary relief wardens who were parked up on the pitch immediately adjacent to ours. Literally within minutes of them assuming control, one of the relief wardens was banging on my van door to bring to my attention a stain on the grassy strip between our pitches, which he said indicated that my dog was using the area as a toilet. I explained that our dog was a baby, just 13 weeks old, and did not have sufficient bowel control to make it all the way to the dog walk area. However, we were careful to always pick up after our dog. In fact, I am pretty anal about this! He also stated that we were not allowed to place the puppy's pen on the grassy strip. I explained that we had no choice since the puppy had started swallowing the gravel on our pitch and I did not want a large vet’s bill. He insisted that things had to change, so they did – we immediately curtailed our holiday at CMC Minehead and relocated to a nearby “Friendly Club” site. In all our years of caravanning and motor-homing we have never felt so uncomfortable and been made to feel so unwelcome before. To explain our overall rating, Sam and Zoe get full marks. The relief warden gets null points on account of his lack of people skills and puppy love.

Great location

Great location for Minehead, access and road route good for larger Motorhome, We did avoid the Porlock hill, The site is Not suitable to kids, We had some very bored children that played football up and down for 5 hours in the evening 5pm to 10pm. They left the next day lucky for everyone !. Other than that a very good stay, with easy walking to shops and beach, about 15 minutes ish, No security gates on the entrance, made it fast to come and go at all hours, Will be back again, very friendly staff and very clean and tidy site.

A Great Site

Arranged a return visit to this site in March. The site team were brilliant and the site was immaculate as ever. Really conveniently located for Minehead (15 min walk to the Beach and Seafront) with plenty of dog-friendly shops, cafes and coffee bars available. A quiet location with all you need from a site, and a warm and generous welcome too! Will definitely be returning again, sometime soon.
