Immaculate Site 10/10

We stayed during May half term 2022 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The site is so peaceful, immaculately clean, has good pitch sizes and the two people that run the site were so welcoming, helpful and friendly. They came to our rescue at 10.30 at night when we could not get our electrics to work, we were so grateful for the help after driving for many hours and having two children with us. Both my children enjoyed the park on site and I have to mention that the showers were lovely and hot. I would not hesitate in returning to this great site, it’s conveniently located between Torquay and Plymouth too.

Peaceful, Relaxing Site

We recently spent a week at Modbury site and thoroughly enjoyed it. The site is quiet, peaceful, relaxing and well kept. The wardens are welcoming, friendly and very helpful and it was a pleasure meeting you. The only downside is that it is typical narrow Devonshire country lanes to access the site, but this is out of the control of the CAMC. Will definitely be back again, thank you!

Super Site

Spent 3 nights here. Didn't want to leave. All over excellent. Super size mostly pancake hardstanding pitches. Faultless place. Lovely Wardens. Thank you MCC.

First Class

The highest praise for this site is reserved for the wardens. The warmest of welcomes greeted us and the help and advice offered to us throughout our stay was very much appreciated. The site and its facilities are kept in first class condition. This is a beautiful part of Devon with lots to see and do The only downside was that some of the toilet and shower facilities - although kept immaculately clean - are in need of repair/modernisation

Most helpful Managers

Our first visit to Modbury and it won't be our last. Yes there are very narrow country roads to negotiate when you get to within about 2 miles from the site, but once you're in, the site itself is spacious, with ample room between plots. Each section is defined by hedgerows and most areas will get plenty of all day sun. The managers (Debbie & Richard) are so helpful and friendly, always offering to help no matter the time of day. They keep the toilet / shower block very clean, though yes it is somewhat outdated. The main thing for us was the number of different places to visit not that far away; Bigbury on Sea, Slapton beach, Wonwell beach (very narrow approach road) Kingsbridge, Dartmouth, Salcombe to name but a few. We extended our stay and had a lovely 12 nights there. The dog really enjoyed himself!

Great stay

First visit to Modbury and had a great week. Lovely peaceful and well kept site. We were lucky with great weather (last week). Obviously being rural Devon the lanes can be a bit challenging at times. I don’t know what a previous review is on about regarding HGV,s on the road it goes to Modbury or down to the B road where the petrol station is. We were out everyday and passed other vehicles at times in the fairly frequent passing places but no real issues. It’s a shame to fault the site/stay over something they have no control over. You don’t go to Devon or Cornwall and expect huge roads that’s the nature of the beast. Great site will come again.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE

If you do not mind damaging your caravan AND you are really good at reversing over long distances then this site is for you. Otherwise STAY AWAY. The long access road is single track and very busy with lots of HGV's. I had to reverse twice to give way to lorries and my wife had to direct traffic as the road was grid-locked. When I arrived I asked the staff why there was no warning in the site book, they said I should have read the reviews!!!!!!! I was advised to leave at 6am to avoid the traffic. I did, but it was still very busy and the first vehicle I met was a petrol tanker which meant a reverse of about 20 metres. I still had to plant the caravan in the hedge and fold the mirrors in. (and my van is a small one). The site facilities are inadequate for its size and there are no security gates. I also witnessed motorhomes entering the site very late and leaving very early, I presume, to avoid payment.

Wardens are fantastic

We use this site as it's close to family and had a issue that required use to extend our stay here and cancel our next site. The wardens could have not been more helpful, they ensured we had an option to extended till we knew the full story and then, once we knew we had to stay on, altered our booking on this site and the next, which took pressure off us.

Great for South West Devon

We had a good two weeks here at Modbury and found it a great location for visiting lots of the attractions in the South West Devon area. The site is quite big but the layout makes it feel a lot smaller, great to be in the heart of the countryside, even if that means some of the lanes are very narrow! There is plenty of space on the site so you don't feel hemmed in which is great. All the pitches have some slope on them so don't forget to bring your ramps and chocks. The toilet and shower facilities were good and clean with lots of hot water. They are looking very dated with trim and some door hooks missing and could do with a major revamp.
