Awesome and the weather was great

Despite having over 150 pitches the site is broken up by a mass of gorse bushes and shrubs which gives you small groups of pitches but all of which are widely spaced. A quick walk and you are on the beach which is a mix of sand and rock pools. Fish and chip van each Friday, wet fish on Thursday and baker each Tuesday. Facilities immaculate as ever. Ideal site.

May Bank Holiday- glorious weather

We visited the site during May Bank Holiday. The weather was glorious and the views magnificent. We saw numerous birds- the most impressive being gannets diving for fish, and we saw seals- all from the comfort of our motorhome. The site is lovely and relaxing, the facilities clean, and the wardens friendly. We went to Logan Botanic Gardens, Mull of Galloway Lighthouse, and Port Patrick- all great days out within half an hour drive of the site. If you want entertainment, childrens clubs, bars etc on site then this isn't the place for you. However if you want to relax and enjoy huge seascapes .....

Perfect when the sun shines

Took a chance on the weather heading north from the Midlands and were rewarded.  A great site for its black location. At times I had the beach to myself.  Nothing much else in the local area so enjoyed the peace and sun!

Follow the swallows

We had a wonderful week here. If you want to find the definition of a good site just look where the swallows choose to nest - in the shower block! Wardens were helpful and friendly and the fresh fish van and fish and chips are definitely worth a try. Only drawback? It's a long way from Dorset, our home, otherwise we'd visit more often.

First outing of the year

We have been to this site 4 or 5 times now and do enjoy the isolation and beauty of the area. This time we went to Logan gardens and the lighthouse, which is worth a walk round and to have a chat with the Twitchers  who are always keen to talk to visitors. Nearly forgot the fish and chip van which provides a really good fish supper at a keen price.

Well worth a visit

Although we were only staying one night we would definitely recommend this site. Excellent views and a well maintained site. the pitches were well placed, not too close to each other so privacy maintained. The staff were very helpful. One thing that would have been helpful would be for the site to have one or two day kennels available so we could leave our dogs for a few hours to go shopping etc. We would also recommend the pub opposite the post office in the local village. Food good and local ale worth trying

Hardstandings not required !

Enjoyed our stay here although it was very very windy. There are few hardstandings but they really are not needed as just below the thin covering of grass it is rock and pebbles. We moved to a more sheltered pitch due to the high winds and found that we lost the TV signal as we chosen a pitch behind a toilet block, prior to that it had been ok. Stranraer wasn't too far away and we enjoyed a trips down to the light house and up to Portpatrick. We also enjoyed watching the many rabbits.

On the beach - almost

This is a joy - a long way from anywhere, and with terrific views over the bay. We spent three days here, never been able to pitch so close to a beach before. Generally the pitches are very roomy, some are quite a walk from the service points. There is good walking to be had from the site, though an amount of road content is necessary – we spent the whole of one day walking over to Logan Botanic Garden (well recommended) and back. We also included Port Logan on this circuit, which we found disappointing as the both the pub and the Fish Ponds were closed and had been for some time, which left, well, nothing much. Didn’t visit Stranraer, but did drive down to Drummore which we found to be a trifle eccentric in a good way, and also to Port Patrick which has got pubs, two or three shops and a rather good café. There was also a mobile chippy on the quay. Parking a motorhome was no problem at either of these places.

Out On a Limb

An ideal site for relaxing by the sea. Quiet, well laid out well maintained and welcoming. Two drawbacks not of the clubs making: 1. The road from the east (A75) must be one of the worst maintained roads in the UK. 2. Shops in Stranraer are very limited.

Amazing

What a gem of a site, we booked it as a stop over for one night to head further up north and ended up staying 8 nights. The staff are friendly and helpful the site is immaculate the pitches are spaciousness and uncrowded and set amongst the most amazing gorse hedging, sea views are great and plenty of dog walks with a big quiet beach. It was so peaceful quiet and tranquil definitely a new favourite of ours.
