Mixed feelings

The arrival process was poor, it is possible to check in via mobile, but there is no or limited phone reception on 2 different networks, I found the warden rude and wouldn't want to deal with him again, the book describes views of the moors from western pitches, but all views are obscured by trees, which is a shame. HOWEVER The site is well maintained, the lady warden appeared more friendly and the surrounding area is stunning. Whitby, the coastal villages - Sandsend, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay and the inland areas Goathland, Lealholm, Rosedale, Hutton-le-Hole, to name a few should be on everyone's 'must visit' list. From the site there are many good walks, including down to the seasonal cafe at Falling Foss, which is worth a visit for a scone with jam and cream, and everything eco friendly (no plastics, everything recyclable). We even say a Kingfisher on a walk during our stay I would be reluctant to stay on the site again, but will definitely visit the area again.
