Fabulous

We spent 10 days at Nunnykirk in June. A lovely peaceful site miles from anywhere. No showers or toilets but that didn’t matter. We were in third field and could only hear birds and deer. Absolute bliss. There is a mile long dog walk alongside the site but dogs should be on lead. The wardens were lovely and helpful, especially Angie. They don’t seem to stop! Check out the painted stones and the daily message board - very thought provoking. Fresh eggs from the house by the entrance are delicious. Our neighbours who were on seasonal pitches were very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. A great location to visit some lovely places but you definitely need transport. Cragside National trust is a must, as is Bamburgh castle and beaches. On our last couple of days we were troubled by flies, they arrive for a two week period, 1000s of them. A great site.

A lovely site and well worth a stay.

We stayed at Nunnykirk for 7 nights end of may/ beginning of June after a period of really wet weather. Some pitches were cordoned off due to recent flooding and it was fairly damp in places. However we were told to have a good look round and choose whichever available pitch there was. Although the site was quite busy we soon found a pitch and set ourselves up. It's safe to say the caravan site is wonderfully peaceful. We were a couple of metres from the River Font, which meanders its way through the site. Thankfully quite low compared, I was told, to a few days before. There are some seasonal caravans on the site but still plenty of space to pitch. The site was being kept immaculately by the wardens. Well mowed, neat and tidy and the bins were emptied, water and disposal points cleaned twice daily. Very reassuring. The location of the site is perfect for people who like to walk and cycle. Perfect for sightseeing and perfect for having some peace and quiet surrounding you. We did have perfect weather which is always a help but sitting in the sun watching the birds and squirrels that flourish around the site. Listening to the curlews in the evening and just being able to really relax was a real treat. The Nunnykirk site was just about perfect for us.

Fantastic Wardens

Tranquil site, immaculately kept set deep in the beautiful Northumberland countryside. I needed to stay here whilst attending t a poorly relative, no idea when I was going to arrive or even if I was going to arrive. The wardens took the situation in and then offered me absolute flexibility allowing me to prioritise my time, even helped me out with some much needed sustenance when I arrived stressed and worn out. Cannot thank the wardens enough. Oh, great location by the way.

TRANQUILLITY/PEACE

As usual met by the most friendly wardens ever!! Nothing is too much trouble. They never stop working. The site is immaculate, flowers and planters are beautiful. I love the herb garden where you can help yourself to various herbs for cooking. There may be no facilities but that's what makes this the most relaxing peaceful site ever. No morning rush to get to the showers, a quieter more peaceful way of caravanning we love it. Wildlife on your doorstep in abundance, deer, hare, pheasants, lots of birds. Earlier in the year we even heard a cuckoo. Rothbury is a 15 minute drive away where you can buy practically anything. This is the best site ever with the best wardens. But please don't tell anyone as we may not get booked!!!!!!

Relaxing break

Another enjoyable weekend staying at Nunnykirk. We received a warm and helpful welcome from the wardens, this site is a great bolt-hole to get away from things. This site may not have all the facilities of a big site, but with modern day caravans / motorhomes who needs it! We will certainly be back.😊

Not what we expected from. This organisation

We arrived days after the site had been totally flooded.we were told about this and given some 4 or 5 pitches that would be suitable.we paid and tried to pitch trying pitches but they were all to wet for a motorhome when we got to last pitch it was the worst of bunch somebody had obviously been stuck we thought they must have highlighted wrong number so pitched on adjacent pitch as this was vacant and had not been flooded. Only to be told 6 hours later we had to move onto the water logged pitch as we'd parked on a seasonal pitch we weren't told how to identify seasonal pitched and the office is closed from 12 till 5 you can't arrive until 12 so after 6 hours pitched last thing you need is to move I know the weather isn't their fault but 3 days parked and darent move the van because it was settling in sodden land unacceptable for them not to check pitches more thoroughly instead of just taking the money for a pre booked stay totally ruined a short break that e We managed to squeeze into work commitments don't go if it's been raining

A lucky find

This site came up when searching for late availability having learned that our pre-booked CL site had messed up our booking, and what a lucky find it was! A peaceful, quiet site threading through trees, fields and crossing the river Pont, with a useful shop and information booth. The warden was welcoming and helpful and the site beautifully maintained. On the edge of the Northumberland National Park and a few miles from Rothbury and Cragside, there's plenty to see whether you're walking, cycling or driving. Just one word of warning - contrary to the tempting photos posted on Facebook the nearest pub within walking distance (2 miles ) -The Gate - only serves food on certain days and if pre-ordered, so don't turn up there of an evening expecting to eat, as we did!

Peace and quiet

Had a lovely one night stay on this site. We had never been on a no facilities site before and it was great. It felt like camping used to be. The wardens were very friendly and welcoming. Would highly recommend

A quiet peaceful location

My husband and I along with our sixteen year old daughter stayed here for four days. We arrived on site and within minutes saw a deer at the back of our pitch. There is a lovely walk alongside the site, although dogs do have to be kept on a lead. We saw chiff chaffs, hares and more deer. We visited a local National Trust property Cragside which has a lovey scenic drive which you can drive yourself around stopping at the numerous car parks to see what this huge property had to offer. We also took a Billy Shiels boat trip from Seahouses to the Farne Island to see puffins, terns seals and best of all we saw a pod of dolphins. We were leaving to travel to Edinburgh but we rather wish we'd stayed longer as there was so much to do. I'm sure we will be back

The Perfect Pitch

My Wife and I had two nights here on 23rd and 24th April, the site is spacious, Quiet, clean, well maintained, away from the hustle and bustle, close to good walks for all abilities and is a great location for other activities within the Northumberland area. Hadrians Wall isn’t too far away and the area is just rich with history. The Simonside hills and surrounding area are fantastic for wildlife, wild deer, Pheasant, woodpeckers, many birds of prey are visible throughout the stay. The site has no toilet or shower blocks, but for proper caravan and Motor homers, that’s the appeal, getting back to basics is a fantastic experience. Wild Campers like the basics, but, here there are grass pitches are well maintained and look neat, it’s not all basic though, each pitch has hook up and there is obviously the fresh water and waste disposal on site. There is 3 & 4 G, tv signal is poor, but for peace and quiet, you can’t beat it, for kids, trees, woodland, a nice stream running through the site provide adventure and fresh air, allowing imaginations to run wild. The site Wardens are Great, really helpful and super friendly. They have a wealth of knowledge about where to eat or places to visit, it made our trip memorable, we can’t wait to go back. I hope everyone visiting Nunnykirk CMC enjoys their experience like we did. Happy Camping
