Nice little site with excellent recently refurbished facilities.
The nearby train line did not impact on our stay. Good site for a three or four night stay with several enjoyable walks from your door.
The Old Pandy pub next door to the site was closed during our visit but there is another nice dog friendly pub The Rivers Edge a fifteen minute walk away.
We'll be back!
Fabulous site in interesting area. Wardens very cheerful and helpful.
New facilities are great. Pitches feel spacious and are well laid out and maintained. Dog wash and dog walk much appreciated. The site was quiet - passing trains not an issue and, unlike many Club Sites, the nearby road traffic noise was minimal.
Recommend anyone visiting has a trip to 'The Big Pit National Coal Museum' at Blaenavon (UNESCO site) where visitors can go down a disused coal mine - for £5 - fascinating bit of our Industrial History.
Small well kept site
Friendly greeting from the newly arrived Wardens and the newly refurbished wash block was a plus. The campsite is spacious and had a large dog exercise area. Finding the the 'Old Pandy Inn' had very recently closed was disappointing but the bus service being so infrequent and stopping early was more of a disappointment. We found the campsite quiet, with the passing trains just being a background noise but we do live less than a mile from a train station. Part of our stay it did rain very heavily making it possible to hear the road noise from passing lorries in the daytime. Abergavenny is a lovely Market Town to visit.
Noisy site
The newly refurbished facilities block is fabulous but our stay was spoiled by the noise of trains during the day and at night.
Also there is some noise from traffic on the A465. It rained heavily during our week at Pandy and our grass pitch became very muddy. We left a day early disappointed with our Pandy experience.
Wonderful
Re-visited Pandy for the second time this year as we were very pleased with the site refurbishment which has taken place. We had a service pitch right underneath the railway line, which was great and allowed us to see the passenger and freight trains going past. The site is well maintained, clean and tidy. The new facilities/toilet block is great - spacious, immaculate, great hairdryers. We love the 'chain pull' in the chemical toilet disposal too.
The pitches are really good size and level for motorhome and awning and it is disappointing to see several units prefer to park their car across the pitch front rather than next to their unit. It does make the north side of the site look like a car park. Great walks from the site, and the dog field is perfect.
We don't normally comment on the wardens, but in this case, a special shout out to Karen and Martin - very helpful, accommodating and friendly, always happy to have a chat to check everything is in order and everyone is happy. We had a china mug disaster and, with no shops nearby to purchase a new one, the wardens kindly lent us a mug without any fuss.
The Old Pandy Inn is a disappointment once again, having just got back on its feet, it is now shut having been sold by the Brewery, so you do have to be self-sufficient or have access to a town to stock up on supplies. The bus from the main A465 to Abergavenny is great for this, although a little infrequent during the day. However, the pub is not the responsibility of the Club.
We had glorious weather during our stay, so we have come back with fond memories of Pandy and look forward to visiting again next year.

One week on on Pandy club site
Firstly the site pitches, facilities, and wardens were first rate, no complaints at all, but for us, the site position did not meet our needs.
We arrived on a Sunday to be met by person(s) blasting away with a shotgun somewhere nearby. This went on for several hours traumatising our dog. The train line nearby carries both goods and passenger trains, hence they were running virtually 24hrs a day. I watched a goods train hauling carriages for Tesco that was over 30 carriages long pass by as an example of what you could possibly experience during your stay.
But the real deal breaker for us was the fact that there is nowhere in walking distance that you can go, to pick up basic supplies such as milk and bread etc. The pub by the entrance to the site was a complete disappointment in respect to food so I would not recommend, but the Carpenters arm that is a 50 min walk along some really narrow roads is brilliant, superb food and fantastic service. My advice if you consider this venue is to ring up and book first.
So in conclusion if you are looking for a well laid out site with first rate facilities and friendly staff, are not bothered by the noise from the train track, your pets don’t mind loud banging, and you don’t mind driving to stock up on supplies then this site might suit your needs.
Lovely area and site - perhaps not so good for young children
We had a great 2 weeks at Pandy. The wardens Bill and Julie were really friendly and helpful and keep the site and facilities in great condition. The upgraded toilet block is excellent and I never had to wait for a shower in the morning. the only minor niggles (as mentioned by others) are the trains (which we got used to fairly quickly) and the different sized pitches (although Bill and Julie show a lot of common sense about pitching on a smaller one and it wasn't a problem even with our awning.
Abergavenny is a nice town with plenty of independent shops and cafes - the market day was fun. Other places we particularly enjoyed were Goytre Wharf, Clydach Gorge, the Big Pit (free but £5 to park), Llangynidr, Llanthony Priory and the steam railway at Blaenavon.
There aren't any play facilities for children (which we didn't mind at all). There's a pretty little river running to one side of the site and a good dog walk. There are also plenty of walks for humans in the area!
The vast majority of people drove slowly on site which was a nice change from some other sites we've visited - thank you.
Mrs P wants to return which means we probably will!
Good all round site
Pandy has everything you would expect from a club site. Good and modern facilities, friendly staff, good condition of pitches, grass and hedges, good dog walking field. Only unusual feature is the variable pitch sizes, but all probably meet minimum requirements for stated use. Passing trains are noticeable but you soon get used to it. Pub is 150m from site entrance and is OK but not special.
Good site, great facilities.
We were attending a wedding nearby so the site served a purpose. It has an excellent refurbished facilities block. The motorhome service point also is good with a full width grey drive over drain and nearby toilet disposal point.
The trains are audible but infrequent enough to not really disturb.
Variable pitch sizes and a slightly narrow roadway could be better.
First Impressions!
On arrival grounds and site well maintained. Staff greeted were friendly and very helpful. We only stayed 2 nights as it was a last minute get away for half term. Picked our pitch along the river side. On a nice day you get sun in morning and afternoon, if you want some late evening sun middle or train track pitches may suit. Talking about trains yes they run quite regular, but to be honest it didn't bother us and did not disturb our stay. We went walking up sugar loaf and was quite tiring day after visiting the local vineyard. The recently updated facilities were immaculate, plenty of water taps around. The service points for grey were always clean and tidy. The location ideal for walking getting out and about. The dog enjoyed the river close by and the larger than some sites walking area was well kept. The cost a little high for weekend away. Some wifi limited hotspots or you have to pay. Should be free and unlimited! We do like to try different sites but would use again.
