Pandy Club Campsite

Nice site but the noise of trains especially goods trains is a bit annoying. On another issue I think the club is becoming a dog and caravan club, one caravan brought 5 dogs. Peeing and crapping, though most is picked up, is putting me off.
Time to charge for them and a limit of 2 dogs.
Even the site staff were fed up with dog muck on the grass. It only takes one member to not pick up.
A super hot week in Wales
We were returning for our third visit to Pandy. We were lucky enough to be there on the hottest week of the year in July and parked on the only hard standing which had tree shade over the lunch period for which we became extremely grateful, Despite the fact that the silver birch trees suddenly decided to shed their leaves and seeds in great clouds through our open roof hatches. I see that others have complained about the trains - yes they do pass quite frequently but they were never a problem and we both slept extremely well. I remember observing that the nearby main road carried very little traffic - so again - no problems with road noise that I can recall. As Pandy almost falls outside the Welsh border, you can use an English bus pass to Hereford - but not into Abergavenny. Another plus for us was the fact that despite it being the start of the school holidays, very few children were in evidence (not a lot for them on site and no local beaches) So it was virtually an 'adults only' site.

Weekend at Pandy
Very easy to find, with good roads right to the doorstep. Very pretty site, well maintained with decent facilities & helpful wardens. OK pub just over the road, lots of good hill walking nearby, Abergavenny close which is a nice town. There is a good dog walk, pretty river and choice of grass or gravel pitches with good space generally.
A couple of negatives. We both found the railway line very intrusive. There are quite a few trains each hour, going on until the small hours and the site is very very close to it - on a quick section of the line. The Abergavenny-Hereford road is a fast one & the traffic again disturbs the peace, this morning from as early as 5am. The shower block, whilst clean, is old & small and needs attention.
I felt the price of £23per night quite a bit with those drawbacks and probably would look elsewhere in the future.
We WILL be back
We did enjoy our stay, the staff as always were very good and the facilities very clean and tidy, the dog walk was very good and our dog SID did enjoy the river after his long walks on the Brecons, it makes for a good place to base yourself for this kind of holiday of walking the Welsh hills around the Brecon Beacons. If there is a fault with the site it is that the railway line is close to the site and does run at night with some freight trains, it did not stop me from sleeping well other than one very long freight train that did seem to last for ever, my wife does sleep very lightly, did say about the trains going by but this will not stop us going back.
Rural idyll
Stayed on the Pandy site, very well located for the Brecon Beacons park.
Very clean and tidy with an excellent dog walk area, we will be back.
One night enjoyable stopover
Stayed at Pandy for just 24 hours. Very clean tidy as usual and parked up very close to access (20 yards) to shallow river which the dogs loved in the hot weather we had. Railway line on the other side didn't worry me, I know some people have commented on it!
Handy for walking up the mountain behind. Would definitely stay here again.
Nice site and area
We stayed for 5 nights 16 -21 July
A small site but quite open, we had a pitch in the middle, it was very hot when we stayed, with very little shade, the dog walk very small but the river a bonus and the Dog loved a splash to cool off. The grounds are very well maintained and so are all the facilities, the showers a little old,but worked very well and very clean. A little disappointed on arrival no flowers at reception,CC sites always make an effort. come on Pandy, don't let the side down.
As for the trains, well they can be annoying especially when the freight trains go through, quiet at the weekend but Mon - Wed they were running to very late in the evening.
In all we would stay again,as a stop over.

Peace and tranquility
We have stayed at Pandy a few times now and cannot fault this site. The wardens are helpful and friendly. Lola our dog loves the dog walk and especially the stream where she can build a damn with the pebbles (I think she is part beaver lol).
The showers are amazing, lots of pressure and not on a stop start which can be annoying at other sites.
The pub is friendly and the food is very good. The area is beautiful and tranquil. If you are lucky enough to catch it at the right time, the duck race and village fete at skenfrith is a must especially when the weather is good.
Fabulous site, Abergavenny is beautiful and even the trains nearby can be soothing.
6 night stay
We stayed here for 6 nights last week. It a very quite site, with very little distractions..although the it sit on the walking route of Offers Dyke it was very difficult to find the very very overgrown path an we had to use the road. Walking route information was very limited unless you bought a book!
A very nice stay
We visited in late May/June after an earlier cancelled trip. It's easy to fine and in a good central spot for sightseeing. Very clean and well maintained with very pleasant and helpful wardens. Really don't worry about the railway - there are very few trains and they are hardly disturbing. We backed on to the river and enjoyed the sound of rushing water. However, if you want evening sun for your g&t's, park in the middle of the site because the trees obscure the sun later in the day if you are around the outside. Lots of places to visit from this site but one thing that we noticed. Although there are lots of footpaths around this site, I don't think the landowners are very keen on walker because we found some signs turned round and one or two broken off and thrown into bushes. Clearly the local footpath officer doesn't walk them very often. But if you can find your way up onto the Offa's Dyke path, the views are fantastic. A lovely stay (and very nice weather too!)
