Little Gem

Absolutely lovely peaceful place. Out of the way of everything which is what we wanted but close to Plymouth for shops etc. Fantastic views out across Plymouth sound, loved watching the ships and boats coming in and out of harbour. We were very lucky to HMS Queen Elizabeth just outside the harbour on manoeuvres. Kevin and Anita are lovely and know all about the surrounding area, places to go and visit. No toilets block, but hey you don't pay all that money out for a caravan to not use your own shower and toilet, and a couple of trips for water. This place is a little gem of a site, we have been to Tintagel site a few times, but this site is just a good. Give it a try you wont be disappointed.

Wonderful site and welcoming wardens

Kevin was very helpful with all our questions and offered suggestions for things to do. The site is partly on a slope and some flat areas. Very well maintained with clean service areas for loo waste, water and waste disposal. The grass was well cut with no grass cuttings to get trampled into our motorhome. There aren't any loo's but that doesn't bother us as we wouldn't use them anyway. The views are stunning overlooking the Sound, although a couple of small trees could be cut/replanted to get the full effect of the view. We took Kevin's suggestion and walked to Mount Batten ferry along the coastal path. The views are beautiful but I'm not sure about Kevin's timings. He said about an hours walk but the many steps up and over the coastal path meant it took far longer. The day was sunny and gorgeous so it didn't matter at all. There is a carpark at Mount Batten where you can park for free and you could even part a small motorhome there no problem. That said I'm glad we walked. On the way back I had a dip in the sea at Bovisand beach which is lovely and soon warmed up on the steep walk back to the site. Both nights we were there were very quiet and peaceful. We couldn't have asked for more. Thank you Kevin and Anita, you both do a wonderful job.

Wonderful bank holiday weekend

We booked last minute to go to Plymouth Sound as it was one of the few sites in Devon with availability. We were not disappointed in any way. The wardens were really lively and helpful. Great walks from the site in all directions. Two good pubs within walking distance really helped on a very wet and soggy Sunday. Well stocked village shop catered for all emergencies and we could order newspapers there. Really friendly locals added to our experience. We’ll certainly return.

fantastic Wardens

After all these years visiting Plymouth Sound club site in August to see the fireworks and visit family and friends. We had the best greetings ever and made to be so relaxed absolutely fabulous. We can't thank the wardens enough. Wardens Kevin and Anita please stay there and never go away apart from going back to France each year for your break. See you next year and have a Merry Christmas lots of love and thank you again. Ronnie and Rosie Heydon.

perfect in every way.

I've been to a few sites in my time but this one was the best out of them all. Prices are great, nice and quiet, lovely wardens and very helpful. I would also like to highly recommend the pasties they make on site, wow!

Glad we found this one

Great welcome from the warden, apart from discussing pitches for good views and access to the Dog Walk they gave a brief review of what's what in the area, in particular where to park for FREE to catch the Ferry that takes you across the Sound straight to the heart of Plymouth (every half hour and till late 10pm in the summer). The site is grass and sloping but we had one of the flat pitches. It is a very smart site the team keep it looking well. I have already mentioned the Dog Walk...well it is a dog exercise are, large and fenced with the grass mown in an imaginative pattern providing a network of crisscross tracks between the long grass. There is also a playing field for children though only one family were there during our week long stay. I am told the site is rarely full, perhaps that is because there are no facilities but that is not one of our priorities. The location and views make it a cert that we will be back. In fact we would have stayed longer but our visit was at the end of over 4 weeks away and like many older caravaners hospital clinic appointments called. Yep... no complaints a re great site and staff the Club should be proud of.

A gem of a site

This is our second 'no facilities' C&MC site and is just as good as The Howard. The location is stunning, views across Plymouth Sound, great pub, useful shop, bus stop outside, friendly wardens. What more could one want!

Plymouth Sound

Approach Road tight. Good greeting by the relief Wardens. Had a problem with our electrics and the Wardens gave some good helpful advice.Granted the site is sloping but levelling blocks are worthwhile for the outstanding view. Very peaceful site and relaxing. Good for an overnight stop or a long stay

Peaceful and relaxing break

A great little site with far reaching views over Plymouth Sound. Even though there is no toilet block it is not a problem. Take care on the approach to the site as the roads are narrow with passing places especially in the village. We received a very warm welcome from the friendly Wardens who assisted us pitching our large motorhome and offered useful information about the local area and places for us to visit on our motorbike. The site was kept spotless and very well maintained by the two wardens. Lots of walks from the site and plenty of places to visit within 30 to 45 minutes drive. We will be back soon.
