The Best

Just stayed overnight on this site. It is one of the best kept sites we have stayed on throughout our long time caravanning. Every credit to the wardens who keep such a great site. The facilities are immaculate! Thank you.

Nice little site

Nice little site, very friendly wardens, facilities and site were spotless. Make sure you have ramps as some pitches aren't level, definitely an easier site if you have a motor mover (we don't unfortunately!) Plenty to do in the area but not much on site for children, there's a ball field but no play area etc. But it's still a lovely quiet site.

Easy stopover

Easilly accessable site, use several times as stopover from north to south. Bit of a slope on some pitches. Road traffic noise from a66 seems to be there all the time , but doesnt stop a good nights sleep. No easy access to the wider area for dog walks on foot, nearest is at village at bottom of hill. Be carefull as its a busy road. Nice friendly staff ad always.

Wonderful wardens

I have just returned from three nights at this lovely site. It’s only a few miles from Richmond which is beautiful and well worth a visit. It slopes down a hill from the entrance just off the A66 and provides wonderful views as a result, however the road noise is ever present and takes some getting used to. I hate road noise, but honestly I got used to it very quickly and it wouldn’t stop me returning. The toilet block is only shut for 45 minutes for each side, and is absolutely immaculate. Each time you leave it you are confronted with the spectacular view. The reason for my review (first ever after many years) is to mention the wardens. Rebecca and Stuart are really lovely people. They are justifiably proud of their site. They are kind, empathic, welcoming people who genuinely seem to enjoy what they do. They are a credit to the club and should be cloned and posted everywhere as soon as possible. This is my first and possibly only review after many years, but credit where credit is due. The road isn’t their fault, everything under their control is top notch. The attitude of the wardens really does make a difference, and theirs was faultless. Thank you both.

First visit

Ww have just returned from a bank holiday trip, we stayed at the site but only for one night unfortunately, the wardens on arrival were more than helpful and friendly. We were on pitch 41 so we did not get the road noise but we did get stunning views and sun. Walked into west gilling please note no footpaths. Two lovely pubs that do food but did not try as we had our own. There is a busstop right outside which can take you to a few places in the area. When leaving the A66 can be tricky especially if heading back to the A1 just need to be quick on the throttle 🫣. We will return to this lovely site and explore more in the future 😀. Thanks to the helpful wardens for making this a great overnight stay.

Great Site and so well run

This is a great site to visit, so well kept, clean and tidy with very friendly and helpful staff. It is the best site we have visited due to standard of upkeep and making life easy for us. Toilet & shower block is best we have seen and they have made life so much better for us as they close the Ladies for 45 mins to clean and then the Gents for 45 mins after meaning only a 45 mins out of use (every other site we have been on closes Ladies & Gents for full 1.5 hours which can be a right pain if it is the day you are leaving as you lose access prior to having to be off site) It goes to show how well thought out and run this site is. It is close to the road so the top pitches may have an impact but we did not have any issues with noise.

Nice site

The site is lovely and well maintained. There is some road noise from the A66 but it's not too intrusive. The local road into West Gilling is noisy if you're pitched next to it, we were as the pitches there look inviting. It didn't spoil our stay and we will come back again but try and move away from the local road. Its worth noting when towing you're probably going to be on the A66, the traffic is fast, you'll need your wits about you when accessing and leaving the site. There is plenty to do locally, during our stay we visited the HMS Trincomalee museum in Hartlepool, well worth the effort and good value.

A warm welcome at a lovely site

A very convenient overnight stop on our way to Scotland. Beautiful views, pristine facilities and very welcoming wardens. As others have said, it's a shame about the road noise, but it certainly wasn't as bad as we expected and really didn't bother us.

Good location / road noise

Easy access to site from A66. Some sloping pitches. Friendly welcome. Spotlessly clean toilet blocks. Richmond well worth a visit as is Barnard Castle. Unfortunately too much road noise.

Great site: lovely views

Just had a great week here. Site staff couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the toilet/shower facilities were immaculate. My wife found the accessible facilities excellent and being pitched on the top level meant that she could get to them easily. Just a shame about proximity to the A66 but the traffic didn't unduly disturb us.
