Good for families

Fabulous site with one small drawback...

We spent 11 nights here in early September. Occasionally sunny, occasionally rainy, often windy. but all in all very peaceful. We were offered a pitch below the toilet block, so reasonably far from the A66; there was some road noise, but not intrusive, and we got used to it, so I think it would not be too much of a problem even in summer. The pitches at the top of the site might be more aware of it... We were easily able to compensate for the slope of our pitch with our Lock 'n' Level, but it might be harder in places. The site is immaculate, and the toilet blocks positively gleam! Facilities are good, and although we had no children with us, I have given 5 for the Families rating as there is a separate section for ball games. In any case, there is much to do in the area, it would not be hard to find activities! A good variety of shops in Richmond, and a large supermarket is to be found a little further in Catterick, accessible via local roads. The wardens were friendly and helpful, as we have always found on CAMC sites. Above all, the views from the site are inspiring, with Swaledale and Wensleydale easily accessible. If you are looking for an overnight stop, it couldn't be bettered (about 2 miles from Scotch Corner), and for our autumn break it was perfect.
