Pleasant short stay

We stayed for 4 nights on this site in July. It is close to Scotch Corner, and access from the A66 is easy, though it is a very busy road to cross at certain times. There is noise from the A66 throughout the day & night, but we didn't find it troublesome. For those who don't want to move vehicles off site, there is a bus stop in Gilling West about 1 mile walk from site - buses can be caught to Richmond & Darlington. The bus back from Richmond will drop you across the A66 from the campsite saving a long uphill walk from Gilling West, We were able to park our 7metre motorhome at Nuns Close car park and on another day at Yorke Square car park when visiting Richmond. Don't try to take a motorhome into Richmond on market day though! The site is fairly small and is well maintained by site staff. We didn't have children with us, so can't really comment on the 'family friendliness' of the site. Because of its location it is an excellent stopover site for people travelling up to or returning from Scotland.
