Absolutely the cleanest best maintained CMHC site we’ve stayed at!

We have just spent 5 nights at River Breamish. Our second stay after a good few years. Whenever we arrived at the site it was obvious that the wardens take great pride in looking after the site. It was absolutely spotless and extremely well maintained and a credit to them both. The layout of the site is lovely. Some nice little areas with good sized pitches and plenty water/ waste/ chemical waste areas within easy reach. Nice onsite dog walk. Just have to be aware of the possibility of coming across the odd adder however on this particular stay we didn’t see any. We visited Bamburgh, Seahouses, Alnwick, and drove for over an hour to the Beamish living museum near Newcastle but it’s a great full day out and dog friendly. Definitely recommend this site. There’s no play area for kids so maybe not every young families cup of tea.

Wonderful location

We've just enjoyed 4 nights staying at River Breamish. A beautiful location managed by a fantastic team that keeps the site immaculately clean. And a wonderful welcome at the beginning too. We will, without doubt, return.

One to go back to

Just had 2 nights at River Breamish on our journey homeward and wish we could have stayed longer.... I'm not one for writing reviews,,,, normally .....but for this one I'll make the effort. The site is a testament to it's staff, I'll go as far to say it's the most well kept one we've visited....The staff take great pride in their work and it shows....We had a lovely welcome at reception and being a 9m American we're very kindly assisted onto our pitch.... The facilities are top notch, modern and spotlessly clean, the site is extremely well thought out and there's plenty of space between each perfectly level pitch.... I'd say it's probably not the best place for kids, you'll have to keep them entertained....We're not "anti kid" btw, we have 5 GK's so we know they can get bored when we're on our jollies..... That aside, If you like a peaceful and relaxed few days, the wind whistling in the trees, an exceptional dog walk and the best the club has to offer then yes, this is the place. Looking forward to our return and thanks for having us.

You won't find a better site than this!

Great site. Facilities are excellent. We visited without our kids and suspect that they might have been a bit bored as there is nothing for children, but it makes for a lovely calm quite site! All areas were spotlessly clean. The wardens/cleaning staff are clearly diligent and take pride in the site. It is head and shoulders the best maintained site we have ever visited. Toilets and showers were lovely and clean. Great facilities, friendly staff, lovely relaxed quite location with beautiful walks around the lakes and alongside the river. Located in the middle of Northumberland so great for visiting across the county. Garage shop down the road is particularly well stocked, so you can get everything you could possibly need there. We stayed 12 nights and will absolutely be returning (would go back tomorrow if we could!).

Annual holiday

Another excellent stay at River Breamish. We have been here for the last 5 years and the site has not looked better than what it is now. Jo and Craig do an excellent job of keeping the site clean and tidy, with nothing too much trouble. They were always friendly and smiling, taking the trouble to make a fuss of my grandkids and our dog, whenever we saw them. Hopefully back again next year.

Wonderful week in Northumberland

Much has been said about the location being excellent for many of the areas attractions, Craster, Bamburgh Castle and Lindisfarne and so it is. The site itself is close to an excellent restaurant, The Bosk (1/4mile) - book in advance but well worth a visit. The current wardens make the site a very friendly and welcoming place to stay. I had a problem with my van on a Sunday but Craig came across to see if he could help and provided details of local caravan service engineers. Can’t praise the place enough. We had a great time, despite the best the English summer could throw at us!

The Perfect Location

This was our first time to Northumberland, and we couldnt have made a better choice for somewhere to stay. The location is perfectly placed for all the places you could possibly want to visit. The facilities are second to none, and the team work very hard to keep them that way. We will certainly be going back to the area and we are more than happy to return to the site again.

So good we went back.

Selected this site to see Northumberland and on route to Scotland. Stayed 3 nights and impressed with everything about the site. Facilities immaculate, site very well maintained with lovely helpful Wardens Jo and Craig. Add to this very level pitches and the beautiful nature walk/dog walk directly off the site and alongside the river and it had everything we wanted. Having stayed at Balbirnie near Edinburgh, another excellent site, realised Jo and Craig had been the wardens there as well and this site was being kept to the same high standards. With the fabulous Bosk restaurant in walking distance and easy access to the site, has become one of our favourites and will return. In fact swapped to this on our return from Scotland to enjoy an extra night.

Absolutely love this campsite

We are pretty new to campervans and campsites but the managers here are so welcoming, friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble - even the daft questions we asked. It is also very friendly as other users are more than willing to help if need be. The facilities are second to none, and the setting is beautiful with a lovely walk right on the doorstep. It is a great base for us to stay while my husband is painting the castles in the area (next one Edlingham!). Can't wait to come back.

Lovely site with great wardens who are there to resolve any issues

We've stayed at this site a number of times and love it quiet location. The wardens are welcoming and do their best to ensure that everyone has a good time. Our last visit was over the Easter Bank Holiday and, as to be expected, the site was full. There were a few 'newbie' caravaners who weren't too familiar with the general club rules (there for everyones enjoyment) and we had an incident with a dog off a lead chasing our kids who were on their bikes. We spoke to the wardens about the incident who instantly resolved the matter in a polite, and unconfrontational manner with the other caravaners – just the way it should be. With the issue resolved we were able to continue to enjoy or break. Facilities and surrounding green areas kept impeccable – looking forward to more stays at this gem of a site.
