A Jewel in Snowdonia

I have just returned from a week at this camp site. I was most impressed by the cleanliness of the whole site from the toilet and shower block to the entrance and surrounds of the pitches. We were greeted by two very friendly wardens and given our pitch number - no having to drive around looking for a free pitches per other Club sites. The shop onsite is well appointed and they have a selection of walks in the area available for a nominal fee of 10p - we completed the walk to Llan Elsi on Sunday - a hike up the hill but definitely worth the effort as the scenery is spectacular as it is in all of the surrounding areas. The village of Betws-y-Coed is a five minute walk through the train station and the village is full of independent shops and cafes and hotels. We had a couple of meals in The Royal Oak in the grill room and would defiantly recommend it for service and value. The towns of Portmerion, Llanberis- at the foot of Snowden, Porthmadog and Conway are all easily accessible from the campsite with plenty to see and if you were visiting in Spring I would recommend a visit to Bodnant Gardens (National Trust). We were lucky with the weather however there is still plenty to do indoors. The trains passing did make some noise but we got used to them - they only run during the week not on weekends. I would highly recommend this site and I look forward to returning again at a different time of the year. Well done to all those involved in maintaining it.
