One of the best

Third visit so far this year. Everything about this site is spot on lovely .. The dog area is a good size , the facilities are clean , the pitches are a nice size and the staff are friendly. This visit we left a piece of metal on our pitch by mistake and got half way home before we realised we left a message on the site answering machine and recieved a call back and arranged for the piece to be posted on to us. Fabulous service .

My wife and I were completely taken aback by the space, the peace and quite, the tidiness of the site and she immediately said that we will be returning here again fairly soon.

Approx 5 miles from home

As the title suggests, this site is very local to us living in Fareham. The peace and quiet on this site has to be the best we have ever encountered (even the kids at the weekend were bearable). The wardens are friendly, polite and exceptionally helpful, also very hard working. We walked into Wickham, about 40 mins through the trees (mostly uphill on the way back) and lunched in The Kings Head, very tasty but quite pricey (14.95 for pie, chips and peas) we also had a takeaway delivered to the car park on the site from Sea of Spice in Fareham, very good value for money as the two meals did us two nights and was very good. The facilities on the site were spotlessly clean and very well laid out, plenty of hot water. Even though this site is on our doorstep we will be definitely visiting again. Only one niggle we had and was nothing whatsoever to do with the site but one trailer tent owner insisted on driving up between our pitch and next doors pitch (even when they were sitting outside having a bbq) to get to his pitch when all he had to do was drive round the corner and go in the correct way.... a touch on the selfish side???

Lovely Site

This is the second time this year that we visited Rookesbury Park with our 3 grandchildren. As always we were made very welcome by the Wardens who were so helpful. As well as the play park on site, there are fabulous woodland walks and a great and well equipped forest play park which our 3 grandkiddies really enjoyed. We had a lovely time and shall do doubt visit again soon

Beautiful Site with Lots of Grass Pitches

Just to say at the beginning that I’ve only rated the “Good for families” section as 4 stars because you’re forced to rate in order to leave a review, however I only glanced briefly at it in the distance so hadn’t given it much thought. Wish they would allow you just to review the areas you wish to. This is a beautifully kept caravan site. It was really peaceful, if you exclude the delightful birdsong all around coming from the forest. When we arrived it was tipping down and our motor mover had packed in. Suddenly the wardens appeared and instantly offered their help to position the caravan. We’re new to caravanning and not very adept at car powered parking! They were so friendly and helpful. The facilities were spotless. They have lots of grass pitches although we selected a hardstanding as it was raining so hard and was forecast to continue for some days. We walked into the charming village of Wickham and visited the Chesapeake Mill (http://www.chesapeakemill.co.uk/) which is great if you enjoy rummaging through old stuff. Another interesting place to visit was Gilbert White’s house in Selborne, about a 40 minute drive away ( http://www.gilbertwhiteshouse.org.uk/). This was an interesting little museum about Gilbert White, Frank Oates and Capt Lawrence Oates. It also has lovely grounds to wander round. Another day we drove the half hour or so to Lee-on-the-Solent and followed the coastal path westward to Warsash. Late pub lunch and caught the bus back to pick up the car. The bus was the X5 which we picked up at Warsash Road outside the Co-op (https://bustimes.org.uk/stops/1900HA040047). Lots of things to do roundabout if you have a car. Only negative was when the we had a powercut. I can’t say how long it lasted as we went out for the day an hour after we discovered it had happened. It only affected a handful of pitches and they said we could move if we wanted. Glad we didn’t as it was working when we came back. We stayed for a week in May. All in all a very enjoyable and comfortable stay. Would definitely recommend it.

Large site

We have just returned from a second visit to this site.  As mentioned in earlier reviews it is a large site and too large for us really.  We prefer smaller sites with less occupancy.   The shower/toilet blocks are spotlessly clean and always plenty of hot water although age is beginning to show on some of the shower fittings.  The lawns are immaculately kept.  We were surprised to see lots and lots of rabbits hopping around the fields very close to the caravans - just added a little something to the views (if you have one in between the many caravans).  We found it a bit disappointing that, as this site is quite expensive, you also have to pay for internet access (£2.50 a day I think), also TV reception isn't great.  We found it only just watchable as the picture breaks up.  You can pay to use a co-ax cable to boost the signal which, again, we thought was pretty mean.  All in all a very well kept, organised site - just a few little negatives.

Newbees on site

First time out we did a two night stint. the site was well laid out and very clean and well maintained. The staff were very friendly and very helpful especially when I said it was my first session and didn't really know what to do. Will definitely go again. There is also a large field specifically for dog walkers.

We had problems getting our hot water to work and when I asked for help from one of my neighbours he stepped over immediately yo see what he could do for us.  Very helpful.

Lovely site

This is a gem. Caravan club sites are typically well maintained but some do have the feel of well manicured carparks. Rookesbury definitely doesn't fall into this trap. Very green and plenty of space particularly on grass which we prefer. Gentle stroll to Wickam with several restaurants and supermarkets. Great location for south coast attractions in Portsmouth and South Downs. Don't think about it..just book!!

Wow, amazing for families

We booked this site for one night using the ferry pitches. What can I say, this park is superb. I have never seen a children's play area / park so large with so much different play equipment for kids of ALL ages to play in and very spaced out! That's not to say it will be noisy, it is in view but at one end of the caravan park itself. Site is very clean, staff are helpful and everyone friendly. My only disappointment was that we booked just the one night!
