Pleasant well kept site

The road on approach to the site has been widen there is a few pot holes that need filling. We was welcomed by staff I found them friendly in the reception, there was one staff member that rode round the site on his bike on evening that we found wasn’t friendly and rude we said hello but it was to much trouble to make conversation with us.. we stayed on the adult only side we did think the grass in between pitches is small and there isn’t any hedges. The toilet block is very clean I give it 5* large toilet cubicle I used the rooms with toilet/ sink/ toilet in no problem plenty of hot water. The site is in the country so you get different noises going off and for the church bells you get used to them it’s not the sites fault it’s there. Plenty of walks straight from the site, make sure you go in the pub called The Plough for a meal lovely meals best book though..

Looks Good But Needs WOrk

We stayed for two nights. It was very noisy, apart from the church bells which are part of the character, the adjacent farms and industry was noisy during the day, and at night there were several campers with televisions in awnings on loudly until past 11 with no sign of this being policed. If it had been one person I would have spoken to them myself, however it seemed to be accepted practice. Nice childrens play area but expensive pool (£4 per adult for 30 mins). The shower and toilet facilities had peeling paint and rusty radiators that were on full blast even though the day time temperature outside was 30degC. I mentioned this at reception, they said 'thats the way the owner has it, thats the way it is'. You would think the opportunity to save on heating bills during hot would be attractive to the owner, not to mention the social responsibility to save energy. The surrounding area once you leave site is lovely as is Greetham Village itself, its a shame that something seems to have happened here as older reviews are favorable, but more recent visitors have found it disappointing. Not the standard I would look for from a C&MC affiliated site.

Promises so much.

Lovely looking site, great walks and facilities and in a nice area, but..... The Church bell rang hourly 24/7, making it hard for light sleepers to drop off, we were told "Thats village life" oddly enough our area does not do the same thing with the bells. We were in the adults area, shame so many children kept riding through on cycles unchallenged, yet someone with a babe in arms was challenged? Swimming.....if you want to pay a fortune then go for it, the swimming is over-priced and one is better off visiting Municipal pools locally. Our neighbours had booked a hardstanding pitch months before their arrival, guess what they got a grass pitch.. The shower blocks whilst looking fantastic and clean, are poorly designed, my clothes got damp whilst showering as water splash was everywhere, the ladies seemed to flood during showering as the water flowed away from the plugholes, or they were blocked. This place has so much potential, hopefully it can fulfill it one day.

Would have stayed BUT!

Booked to stay from 11th for 6 nights. On 7th I was informed that a hospital appointment had been brought forward. I contacted the site by phone to shorten our visit to 4 nights. I was informed that the price quoted for 6 nights would not be reduced as this was their policy. I was disgusted and even though the lady on the phone said she would have a word with the boss because of the circumstances I was so annoyed that I rang back later and cancelled the whole stay. Of course I forfeited my £20 deposit but no way was I paying for 6 nights to stay 4.

Never Again.

Visited this site over the Easter weekend, this was our first and will be our last visit. We had power cuts throughout the weekend and got told a different story every time we rang reception to see what was happening. Not once throughout the weekend were we contacted by anyone on site to explain what the issue was with the power supply. Some of the wardens were very rude with one on Saturday night saying if you are not happy why don't you just go home. This is not the kind of attitude you expect on a site you are paying over £30 a night for. The charges for the pool are very expensive and the showers in the pool area did not work when we visited on Sunday. The approach road is a complete joke, single track( although they have started to widen it in places) riddled with potholes and flooded for most of the way down. The location of the site is excellent with easy access to the village and surrounding areas but the customer service falls well below the normal standard of caravan club sites.

Disappointed

My wife and I have stayed at this site many times, mainly in summer and found In the past everything to fine and in working order, with staff both helpful and respectful. Having stayed here over Easter we had power cuts, lasting for sometimes hours ( back up generators not working also). We had a water shortage on Sunday ( if this was your idea of a April fool, it was not funny).Pipes where freezing on serviced pitches because there was insufficient protection from the cold.Road towards the site is appalling but in their defence it does look like they are trying to sort it out .Communication between staff and paying guests was terrible . I have never took the time to write a review of any kind but felt it had to change. The site needs to improve before we think about coming back again especially in winter.

Easter break

Just visited this site and was not happy, paid £30 per night for electric only to not have any Friday and Saturday night. Apparently site had problems and the emergency generator failed both nights, NOT GOOD for start of season but apparently this is an on going thing according to other people on site. Showers were mainly running cold as well. The drains blocked and some people on site who had paid for super pitches said they didn’t have any water. They advertise swimming at £4 adults and £2.50 children but fail to state this is for half an hour sessions, you find this out from a notice in the toilet block. They also have a play area but the small children slides and play house poses health and safety risks because they are not secured to the ground which enables the older children to dismantle them. Not at all good in my eyes. The roadway is was totally flooded because it is dipped lower than the fields so all the mud and water congregates on the roadway. Staff didn’t even apologise when I left for the inconvenience of having no electric which surprised me. This site needs to improved as it is in a fantastic location but has far too many

Not one of the best

Site is large and maintained adequately. Wardens are rude and not at all welcoming. The site has no lights so is completely pitch black during dark hours which poses a risk should you need to venture out. Approach road is narrow and uneven. Will not be returning.

Potholes and dirty swimming pool facilities

Fourth time here and probably the last as the site seems to have declined to be frank. Numerous potholes as you arrive which are easy to have been seen and dealt with. We were first in the swimming pool and yet the area had not been cleaned from the day before, hence dirty changing rooms and cold showers in the changing rooms, (same as last year). Some signs in the site still are plastered with duck tape and the water supply to the chemical waste site is a joke as is located the other side of a brick wall, hence difficult to use and you cannot clean the chemical waste properly.A shame really as these signs of lack of attention to detail let this site down. There have been improvements over the years eg the toilet block, which is good, but after building works one would expect signs of past building to have been removed, which is not the case here. Regret to say this site will not be on our list for next year. Overall impression is they have taken their eye off the ball and concentrating on their lodges instead. Sorry.....

Shame about the approach road

Good site, easy to find. Adult toilet/shower block clean and modern, although showers suffer from other using the facilities at the same time changing the water temp which keeps you on your toes. Great dog walking area in tree planted area. Only gripe is the dreadful approach road. Narrow and potholed. One muddy passing place on the bend. Don't go off the edge in winter you'll get stuck. Approach road shared with builders merchants (or similar) business, don't expect them to give way or wait for you to get down the road despite being able to see you coming. We had to back about two thirds of the road because a lorry wouldn't back about 25 yards! Site great when dry but hogging under a thin layer of pea shingle rather messy in wet weather.
