February Half Term

Spent 7 nights here Feb 2015.  Easily accessible site, pitches a little on the tight side especially ours at the top end of the serviced pitches which due to the hedge opposite made it awkward to reverse onto pitch.  Had a fully serviced pitch and only had one occasion of electric going off, despite only 10 amp, but that was for a whole section of the park; it was back on again in a very short time.  In truth the 10 amps didn't restrict us at all and had Alde heating on all the time with no problems when we put the kettle on the electric hot plate. Clean and tidy facilities block and kept nice and warm with biomass boiler although didn't use it for showers as we all used the one in the van.  WiFi not fantastic but told when we were leaving that booster was not working, would have been good to know before buying £10 weekly ticket! Slightly featureless site looking out from the van and could do with splitting up the pitches a little better rather than just having them in a line around the edge of the site.  However this does give a large central play area for children.  Good dog walk area and easy walk to village for the pubs, limited in the way of shops though which necessitates a trip to Oakham (5 miles) or beyond.  Good food in The Plough but truly excellent in The Wheatsheaf although slightly more expensive.   Easy access by car to Rutland Water for nice walks and additionally there are some shorter walks taking in part of the Viking Way directly from the site.
