Good for families

Good location but....

Great location for cycling and walking. Really quiet country roads. Wardens very friendly and a well stocked reception - papers, bread, hot drinks etc. Went to the Wheatsheaf in the village to eat which was exceptionally good and a short walk away. My gripe ... When booking we were not told that building works were being carried out. They are refurbishing the toilet block on the adult side of the site. We were allocated pitch 5 on the adult field which was opposite to the toilet block which was being refurbished.  It was anything but a quiet relaxing stay.  We arrived on Sunday which was quiet but on the the second day, Monday we had JCB's and tractors moving bricks and breeze blocks and workmen banging for the majority of the day. The third day a massive concrete lorry turned up at 7.30am - no chance of a lie in - delivering goodness knows how much concrete. The next day the same, woken up at 7.30am to the sound of another concrete lorry. This was no more than 50 yards from our pitch. I know these works have to be carried out if the toilet block is to be refurbished but there is no mention of the disruption on the website and when we telephoned to book the wardens did not mention that there was only one toilet block in action and that we were unlikely to have a quiet and relaxing stay due to the building work noise. If we had known we would have booked in at a different site.
