Lovely and welcoming

This lovely little site was not what I expected. The write up does not do it justice. I liked it there so much I extended my stay. This site would definitely benefit from a toilet/shower block but it isn't a problem for a properly equipped outfit. Lovely staff and lots to do locally to get back to nature. I will definitely be back more than once this season!

Hidden gem

Nice site - off the Gatwick and Heathrow flight paths. Good dog walks - helpful and friendly volunteer staff. TV reception very poor unless you have satellite. Good G4 reception. Bus route to Guildford and Horsham close to site. I will use it regularly now I have found it.

Bit like a luxury CL

Our second visit to this site and all very good with friendly, helpful wardens. TV reception was ok if a bit patchy on some channels but lovely environment and walks along the old railway. For us, much preferred to a full blown site.

We all clicked into place

What a wonderful charming site, wardens were really Happy friendly people, a credit to the Club, site is ideal for walks north & south on the old disused railway track, the Saturday night we were there, the London to Shoreham walk was in progress, even through the night, noise never heard, Great bunch of youth walking for fundraising. It was one of those weekends, where you were in the right place, at the right time, everyone just seemed to click into place, people were chatting and nattering all over the site, everyone smiling and enjoying the freedom, we hope the Lady with Diesel the Dog, got her problems sorted with him, he was rather poorly on the Sunday, to sum-up, Great place to experience what fellowship of the Caravan Club can really be like.

Hidden Treasure

A beautiful site that seems like an oasis surrounded by major roads that you can't hear! Very convenient for walking and cycling straight off the site and in easy walking distance of a small shop and about five to ten minutes further away a very large Tesco. The only complaint we had that with the site almost empty for our visit, and plenty of hardstanding spaces, we were told exactly which pitch to use, for no good reason, which made TV reception impossible (it's difficult on many pitches but the volunteer wardens seemed to want to keep people close together).

Excellent overnight stop

We stayed overnight on our way back from the Caravan Club National Rally. We had a very good sized grass pitch not far from the reception and front entrance. The site is situated at the end of a no through lane so no noise from traffic. It was very quiet and peaceful where we were sited. The pitch was large enough so that we could leave our car and caravan hitched up overnight ready for the off next morning.

Weekend break

Stayed for the Mayday weekend. The roadway through the site is a bit rough (Tarmac breaking up) and the grass between the hard standings was rather patchy. Pitches towards the bottom of the site are not that deep. Good welcome from the Caravan club staff. Lovely site for adults but no specific play area for children. Lovely walks around the site and the village is within easy walking distance.  Local pub allows dogs in the bar area.

Elephant in the room !

We arrived at the site on Thursday for a one night stay in our MH. Decided to pitch at top end as next to gated access to Downs Link path for easy walking of our dogs. Realised after pitching that industrial business park was directly adjacent to us & only metres away. There was some noise (as mentioned in the write up) - mainly from lorries & forklift trucks, but as we planned to be out for the afternoon it didn`t really bother us so we didn`t move. Sadly the bleeping of reversing forklifts & engine noise started at 5.00 am in the morning & woke us up. The site is quite strung out - being an old railway station - so pitches nearer the entrance may not hear the noise. Otherwise the site was great with friendly, helpful wardens & T.V reception was fine for us - easily picked up the London signal.

our most visited site

We have a motorhome and Slinfold has always been our favourite and first Club site of the season. It is only 35 minutes from home and invariably we have forgotten something so a round trip home through such pretty Surrey and Sussex is a pleasure. Over the years we have visited, the wardens have always been so kind and helpful particularly as we are oldies and not really mobile. I have to use an electric scooter to get around and exercise our little dog up the lane complete with poo stick (a can attached to a length of wood and a plastic bag). I also have to use the scooter to do the toilet trip or visit the wardens. I also have to use a wheel chair. This year we were hoping to find the road through the site hard topped to avoid the many puddles and mud when wet. On the first visit this year we found a speed ramp across the road it hardly seems worth the cost as I have never seen speeding in all the very many visits we have made over the years. We feel the money would have been better spent providing a TV hook up or fixing the road! Try getting a mobility scooter or wheel chair over a speed ramp! Speed ramps are a hazard for the handicapped wheel chair reliant. The answer is simple, cut out a section from the middle so a wheel chair can get through or for that matter a mother pushing a child in a stroller. We are very fond of Slinfold and its location to the village and supermarket, we would not like to have to abandon it for another site.

great place to stay

Great site, really friendly wardens, great value for money.we didn't seem to have a problem with the tv reception, we had a walk into the lovely village along the disused railway line, also great for cycling too. This was our second visit and we will be sure to return.
