Lovely stay in April 2016

Stayed for eight nights in April. Lovely site, wardens really helpful. Only pity was it was following Storm Katie so the beautiful grass pitches were still wet so we were recommended to use the hardstandings. These are new and very large so no complaints but would love to go back and stay in the lovely hedge enclosed grass pitches.

Easter Break 2016.

We visited for 5 days over easter the site is lovely and clean and very well run, the showers and toilet block was kept Immaculate. The staff was very friendly and helpful.  The site is situated in an excellent position for traveling all over the island. There's a nice little pub the pointer inn 5 minuites drive away the food was really good, and staff friendly. The best place we found to eat was the fighting cocks  the food was excellent  its around 10 minuites drive from the site, we braved storm Katie it was a really frightening experience ?? x

Excellent

Stayed over Easter for 9 night. Very quiet and relaxing apart from storm Katie. All service pitch was fine although furthest from toilet block.however this was explained at check in by very efficient friendly and informative wardens. Site is extremely well kept and all amenities are spotlessly clean. Will definitely re visit although ferry prices push up an otherwise good value site. Well done southlands

Great site, very welcoming wardens

Arrived very early at 10 am and very kind warden allowed us to pitch up. Was a quiet period and really nice to see a warden use some discretion and common sense. We were asked to pitch on a grass pitch as limited number of hard standing pitches available and appear to be kept back for Motorhomes and I do tend to agree with previous comments that this seems a little unfair as we all pay the same fees. That said this is a great site and the island is deffo worth a visit. We visited the garlic farm which was a fab. Lots of beaches that allow dogs at this time of year.  Facilities are all spotless and children's play area was great. Even have a place for balls games and a set of football goals always from any vans.  Only crisis miss the club could invest in a changing number of grass pitches to hard standing so as to avoid the muddy mess in bad weather for everyone not just Motorhome owners.

A gem of a site!

Just home from a lovely short break on the Island. Cannot say enough good things about this site. We are a family with 2 children and a dog. Wardens were so friendly and helpful, site is immaculate and facilities clean and well kept. Lovely play area for the children with fantastic views across the downs. Brilliant dog walk for our pooch. We arrived just after storm Katie had been so ground was soft and therefore we opted for a hard standing pitch, lovely and level with fantastic views. Had the ground been better, as a family, we would have had a grass pitch as closer to park and dog walk and more secluded, either way you won't be disappointed. Ferry travel was easy and we got a fantastic deal by booking through the club and using wightlink, follow the clubs directions to the site or you will end up on some Very narrow roads. We will definately be returning for a longer stay.

Easter Stay

Stayed for 8 nights at Easter 2016, one of the best Caravan Club sites we have stayed on. Storm Katie arrived on our last night with winds of over 100mph recorded on the island good job the awning was down.

Best of the Best

I know the ferry cost can put people of visiting the Isle of Wight, however if you are careful and time it right, you can get a crossing for under £100 or take advantage of the offers the club provide. This site is worth the extra expense it is brilliant. The facilities are spotless, the wardens are brilliant and the site itself is beautifully run, well organised and is the best site we have ever stayed on. It is less than 10 minutes to the local cycle network - 20 minutes on foot and then its traffic free cycling or walking. We will be back.....

Short autumn stay.

We only stayed for one night while exploring the island but the site was ideal.

Above and beyond

Living on the island we regularly stay at Southlands and it never disappoints. As the weather looked promising we booked to stay for the last weekend of the season with our friends. As always the site was spotless and the wardens as friendly as ever, even though they were working non stop preparing the site for the winter. On the Saturday we set off for a cycle ride with our friends along the Bembridge Trail which was a mistake as it was extremely muddy! So we quickly detoured back to the cycle track and onto Sandown. When we returned to Southlands Campsite the wardens were busy cleaning by the garage. They offered to hose down the bikes with the pressure washer and proceeded to clean all four bikes with such a sense of humour. It made our day! A perfect end to a great season in the motorhome. Thank you to the brilliant wardens at Southlands!

October offer

This was our first time on the IoW. We found the site very well cared for and peaceful at this time of year. The location was good and wardens very pleasant and helpful. Plenty of places to visit (loved Osborn House) and things to do.
