At the rookery

A great little site that was ideally placed for our needs. The area around is beautiful and St. David's is a delight. The site is on a slope so be prepared to level up or hold your cup straight! At the time we were there the site was relatively quiet with the exception of the rooks. There are several trees on site and the rooks have made them there roost and they can be very vocal - this did not bother us but I could imagine some people would not like it. One of the best things we found was that the site is serviced by the Celtic Coastal Bus which is at the gate every 30 minutes connecting the passengers to St. Davids where buses are available to most places. The fares are cheap especially if you have a Welsh bus pass. The staff at the site are first rate and are really helpful. The bread that is delivered from the local bakery is great whilst the shop itself sells only the basics. The refurbished toilets are first class and were spotlessly clean at all times. The hot water could have been hotter in the toilets and the washing up area but it was fine. I missed the radio in the toilets daft as it may seem - something that perhaps got lost in the refurb. Visitors should be aware that the approach roads are typical of the area being single track in places with few passing places. A great site, wonderful area and people we will definitely go again.

Park Gates

Lovely site, to which we have returned for the past 3-years with our grandsons who love meeting up with friends they met on our first visit. Sadly, the central park has been dismantled and a new one built to one side, which really is for little ones who have to be supervised. Unfortunately, my two grandsons (aged 14+ and 6+) and their friends were so excited to meet up again and were playing a tag game. The park gates, which are made of iron, are self-closing and are no problem when used properly. However, when they are flung open they bounce back really quickly ... and made of iron are really heavy. My 6-year old grandson received a terrible hit to his mouth; he thought he had lost his two front teeth (his second teeth) and "... and can't find them on the floor" he cried. The following day, one of his 12-year old friends had a similar accident to his leg, which necessitated his parents practically carrying him back to their van. He was left with nasty bruising. Nice park for little ones who need to be supervised ... but this leaves the older children, including young teenagers, with no place to congregate. The wardens promised to take this issue to their national meeting and to see if other wardens have had similar incidents ... in which case, something will have to be done about them. PLEASE: be wary of how fast your child opens the gate and explain to them what can happen if they don't use the gates as they are intended to be used. I would hate to see another child injured as my grandson was. I have given 4* for peace and quiet because this is spoiled by the noise of the crows. I love bird song, but their squawking is something else!

Family friendly

A great site and only a short walk to White sands beach (although a steep road). The beach is amazing as is the clear water. Excellent for surfing or body boarding. There is a great walk up the sleeping dragon (not sure if it's big enough to be a mountain?) which overlooks the site - follow signs to the YHA. The site wardens are extremely friendly and helpful. They have treasure maps for the kids, which kept ours busy for an hour or so. If I was to offer advise to other touring caravans or large motor home owners definitely follow the directions to the site and not tow through Roch/Solva - we didn't on the way there and regretted it. We followed the site directions on the way back and it was a breeze.

All Round Excellence

I think this may be my favourite site on the club network. It keeps drawing me back. The situation cannot be bettered. I love St. David's (which is only 30 minutes' walk away along quiet lanes) and the beaches are to die for. A trip to Skomer is certainly worth while if you can bear the early start that's necessary. This is Cornwall without the incessant crowds. Wi-fi would be an added bonus, as would fellow occupants who adhere to the reasonable site rules (dogs on leads at all times and just one car per pitch) for the sake of their neighbours.

Excellent as always!

This is our favourite site.  The wardens are really friendly and the showers and toilets are always clean.  St David's is a short walk away and so is the beach at Whitesands.

OUR FIRST TIME

AS THE TITLE STATES THIS WAS OUR FIRST TRIP IN OUR MOTORHOME ANYWHERE. WE RECENTLY PURCHASED OUR FIRST MOTORHOME AND ARE VERY GLAD WE CHOSE THIS SITE FOR OUR SHAKEDOWN TRIP. THE WARDENS COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE HELPFUL AND UNDERSTANDING. THE SITE IS IMMACULATE AND THE WALKS AND SCENERY SOME OF THE BEST IN WALES. YOU MUST REALLY TRY THIS SITE, WE WILL VISIT AGAIN.

Wonderful peace and quiet

Our 3 nights in May were wonderful. We come here because it's a long way from anything commercial and the walking and views are tremendous. It's the countryside - clean, fresh and invigorating. Restaurants locally offer anything from fine dining to 'anything and chips'. The site is immaculately clean and tidy - not heavily manicured, thank goodness. Maybe a few hard standings wouldn't go amiss, and a Wi-Fi connection, but as a get away from it all venue, it can't be bettered. Don't miss a trip to Abereiddy and the other black sand beaches north of there. Finally compliments to the wardens who were unfailingly helpful and cheerful.

Lleithyr Meadows site St. Davids

Our favourite site. The staff are brilliant so friendly and helpful. The facilities are excellent and there is so much to do and see in the vicinity. The coastline is second to none.

Counting sheep...

Do read the notes about the best route. Make no mistake here, you are a bit out in the sticks, and if you trust the satnav, only the smaller campers will get away with it. If you are coming from the M4, you need to approach by turning off the Haverfordwest to Fishguard road, and not be tempted by the coastal route. That's scenic, but not for caravans! The site itself, once you find it, is great. All grass pitching, but we managed to nab a corner spot with wonderful countryside views. There were ponies in the adjacent field, and across the hills, a huge amount of sheep. (Well, it is Wales!) I did start to count them... but fell asleep! The spotless facilities block is excellent, and there's a new play area to keep the kids occupied. We found that we spent rather a lot on fuel, but if you're into walking, or indeed an hourly bus service, that needn't be your grouse. Speaking of large birds, the trees were full of very noisy nesting rooks. There's no complaint about the many wonders of local nature though, it's what you're there for... A recommended site for your itinerary, but I'd bet that you can't count the sheep!
