A real Gem.

We have been coming to Lleithyr for some years. We are never disappointed either with the site or the local area. The Wardens here do a superlative job of keeping us all safe in the current health situation. That hard work is rarely appreciated. In fact in the twelve days we have been here we have seen individual guests ignoring the instruction to arrive after 1pm. This is important as the enhanced cleaning and sanitising regime runs virtually non stop throughout the day. Arriving at 11.30 is unacceptable, it means that the wardens have to leave their primary task to deal with the new arrivals. If you didn't see the arrival time on the website there is no way the sign at the gate could be missed. If you are club members you should be ashamed. Yet still the Wardens smile, I have no idea how they do it. I salute them all.

Great site!

Excellent site with lovely views! Second visit here and will definitely come again. Ideal location for exploring the area. A short walk to the beach and a longer walk or regular bus into St.Davids. Staff are very friendly and helpful. The site is spotlessly clean, well run and adhering to COVID regulations. As others have said, it's a bit windy bit that's just geography!!

Fabulous site

Other reviews adequately describe the walks and beaches accessible from this site. I do recommend though, the walk from the site along the Pembrokeshire coastal path to Porthclais and back through St David’s. This is an easy route of approx 11 miles with stunning scenery and a joy for naturalists. This site, whilst all pitches are grass, drains fantastically. We stayed whilst storm Frances did her best with torrential rain and 60mph winds but no problem driving off afterwards. Levelling blocks are required for a few pitches but not many. Very large pitch sizes meant that one never felt crowded even though the site was busy. Site warden were fabulous, efficient, friendly and polite. 15 minute easy cycle into the lovely city of St David’s and a comfortable 45 minute walk. We ordered pizza from the neighbouring Lleithyr Farm one evening but we wouldn’t recommend them to you. The pizzas were poor quality and very bland. Highly recommend this CMC site to you.

Great location but windy!

We (myself, wife, grown up son and his daughter, age 8) had a great week here. Many other reviewers have mentioned the wind, well our week coincided with "Storm Ellen" so they know nothing!! We were one of a very, very small number on the site who didn't take our awning down and thankfully it survived! Despite that the weather was good with no rain during the day so we were able to go on the beach a few days and enjoyed amazing walks on the coast path to Carn Llidi, Blue lagoon Abereiddi to Porthgain (and back) and others around lovely St David's and this absolutely stunning area. Facilities were good and allowed 4 in at a time (which was a great improvement on Pembrey, where we stayed a fortnight before, which only allowed 2 at a time). Closing the facilities for cleaning at 10 am for 2 hours was annoying. Other sites usually clean in the afternoon which makes more sense as most people will be out for the day by, say, 2 pm. Site was well maintained and staff were great. One of them went around every pitch to make sure that everyone was aware of the approaching high winds (forecast up to 70mph!). We will probably return but make sure that we will carefully check the weather forecast next time.

Nice small site by the sea.

We were extremely lucky to get on this site during these busy times. The site is in a rural position overlooked by Caen Lidl which is well worth the climb for fabulous views of the coast and Whitesands Bay. Whitesands Bay is about a 15 min walk down a steep hill. Beautiful flat sandy beach and great cafe. St David's and cathedral is a 30 min walk away. Highlight of the area is the coast path. Stunning!!!! The site is all grass and flat. The facilities are caravan club standard and kept very clean. We felt very safe and happy with the band system, allowing just 4 people in facilities at one time. The wardens were also sanitizing out door taps and bins during these Covid 19 times. Wardens were very helpful and friendly, Thank you. We will be definitely visiting this site again.

St David’s

Very peaceful site with beautiful scenary. Due to Covid restrictions facilities were closed. Forty minute walk into St David’s city and about 15 minutes to a lovely sandy beach. Flat grassy pitches with hook up easily accessible. Only negative is the badly designed and dangerous manhole cover that needs to be lifted after you have driven over it to empty motorhome waste water.

A couple of improvements here.

Lovely site. PItches reasonably flat and seem to remain quite dry despite a lot of rain whilst we were there. (Last week of season) Friendly wardens who have worked hard all season to keep site looking good without being manicured. Bring lots of pegs as windy and awning takes a bit of a battering. Facilities clean and warm. We werent phased by the rooks, quite like the sound of them. There is now a small dog pit stop on site which is a great improvement as there is no need to go off site to allow dog to do the necessary. Also, the public footpath from the site gate to the lane leading up to the youth hostel and Carn Llidi has been reinstated and it is such a relief not to have to walk along the lane all the time. We have never visitied in Summer months but plan to do so next year as we think the coastal path flowers will be out and maybe it will be a little less windy. Walks along the coastal path very enjoyable as is the walk into St Davids itself.

A truly beautiful site

This was our first visit here and we arrived on the August bank holiday weekend when the site was full! Luckily we managed to get pitch 27 which had amazing views and was nice and peaceful. We had a warm welcome and was looked after by the lovely team of wardens who happily gave us information on walks and boat trips throughout the week. They are a true credit to this site. The toilet facilities were always clean and quiet despite the site being full. The walks from the sight are plentiful and truly spectacular. We walked the coastal path to St Justinians and then on to St David's quite a few times. Whilst the beach at whitesands has a dog restriction during the summer months the smaller bay a short walk along the coastal path towards St Justinians is beautiful and perfect for everyone! The hop on bus service which I believe only runs in the summer months is fab and extremely good value for money and stops right outside the site. The roads around the site are rather tight and would stress that you plan your route carefully and follow the site book directions! I would thoroughly recommend this site and look forward to staying here again.

A gem of a site

My family have been staying at this site for several years, as the location is between the ancient city and cathedral of St Davids and a fantastic beach at Whitesands. The site itself is a largely open grassed area, approx 10-15 minutes walk to the nearest beach. The site is quite exposed, during some recent storms the winds must have been 40 mph+ at times, which was an interesting test of awning design and pegging out technique ! The facilities at the site are to the usual club standards, but the wardens are a credit to the club being both friendly and helpful. Being located in West Wales is does rain a fair bit, there are no hard standing pitches but we've never had a problem with getting onto and off a pitch though in rainy weather I think the wardens sometimes close off a section of the site that's on a slight slope. The site and the surrounding area is very unspoiled, the club opened a small play area on the site recently . There are some great walks from the site too. There is no club wifi, but we found that we could get decent TV reception and fairly good mobile and 4g. I'd echo the comment that even when the site is busy it always seems to feel peaceful. My family and I like this site a lot and I'm sure we'll keep returning.
