We stayed for three nights and wished we could have stayed longer. Very friendly welcome and obliging staff. We think this is one of the best sites we have stayed in and will certainly return
Champion....
Lovely old fashioned limited facility site...just like a CL! Lovely wardens & great location....happiness is found more readily in such simplicity.
Return Visit
Such a good little site and although without the benefit of EHU the shower block is a bonus. Is it me, have the ladies showers been tidied up a little? It seemed better in there and the hairdryer is a welcome sight on non EHU. Outside the wardens have done a great job with their flowers and herbs. Totnes and the Dart were as lovely as usual. I was really pleased to see the Saveur patisserie and coffee shop has branched out from Dartmouth, one more place to enjoy! Hope to return again.
Don't change a thing
The location is fantastic there is plenty of dog walking, shops, pubs and restaurants very close by.
The wardens are very friendly and the sites that is well kept.
Everyone says the facilities are not good, true. We all know why.
I used the facilities in my MH which where good . I have solar panels on the roof so no power issues.
I agree with previous reviews not a great site for kids unless you include the nation parks, the river dart, Torbay etc.
What was very refreshing, maybe because of the lack of power, everyone sat outside socalising until dark.
i want to say; don't go there you will hate it! But it's great.
Maybe fewer facilities is the way forwards .
Great site = no buts...
We stayed here for a long weekend with our two big dogs - great site in a brilliant location just a 5 minute dawdle into Totnes. Site wardens we really friendly and helpful. Totnes itself has great independent shops and eating places, and everywhere is just so dog friendly...Loads of varied dog walks from site. We've already booked another stay in a couple of weeks. The only low mark we put is "good for families" as the site is small with no play area or other facilities for young ones. However there were a few children there who seemed to be enjoying themselves...
A lovely site but ...
Really enjoyed this site because of its proximity to Totnes and trips on the river. There also seem to be plenty of walks to do, unfortunately we didn't have time for these but the round robin trip by boat, steam train and bus was excellent. No electric was not a problem and we coped with the antiquated showers and the free 'scald' at the end as you turned them off! However there are only two so be prepared to queue. Washing up facilities are also tight. The lack of hard standing is the real issue. Although the book says there aren't any three have been set up on the tarmac, separated by flower tubs so they're non-awning pitches. They're not the best but I was worried about being on the grass in rather wet weather even in July, some pitches had been moved because it was wet and several had ruts. I understand from previous reviews that the club can't invest because of a short lease but it does seem extremely short sighted of the council. A lot of people appeared to be going out to eat in the evening so I'm surprised the council is prepared to lose this income. We were also surprised to hear that the club is not allowed to pull people of pitches if they get stuck in the mud. Why?? Something is going to have to give here and it would be a shame to lose this site. How about plastic matting the grass grows through instead of gravel?
Wardens and cleanliness fantastic as usual
PS on every site we've been to this year we've been reminded of the pitching rules. I've no problem with this as it is for safety reasons and it preserves everyone's privacy. Why is it then that on nearly every site, including this one people are ignoring the rule and encroaching on others space?
Another lovely holiday in Totnes
Just come back from another great holiday at Steamer Quay. As always the site was well kept and toilet block immaculate as usual. This years wardens have done a wonderful job being most welcoming and helpful. Would like to comment on lovely floral arrangements and pick your own herbs. Close to quirky town with plenty of pubs and shops to explore. No electric. No problem. Back to proper caravaning. Will be back again next year.

Wonderfull Totnes
Peacefull site in a great location . on the edge of Totnes. Our third visit to this site. Clean tidy and pleasant with friendly helpfull wardens . We just can't understand why the local council doesn't give the club a longer lease than one year at the time for this site? If they did this the caravan club could modernise the site and do it up a bit, and open it all year round! Maybe the local community and the club should start a petition ? It would do the local economy the world of good. Maybe the local councilers are not very business like??
Location, location, location!
What a fabulous little site! Incredibly friendly and helpful wardens who work so hard to keep the whole site immaculate. Washroom facilities a little old and tired but spotless, with hot, powerful showers. No electric, but batteries can be charged if necessary. Motorhomes will need a bucket or long hose as there is no direct dump for waste water. Manages to be quiet and peaceful yet only a few minutes walk from the really cool, quirky town of Totnes with its host of interesting shops, pubs, tea shops and restaurants. We will be back!
What a lovely Jewel
We were in the area and was looking for somewhere to stay for just one night. The wardens were really friendly and helpful. Place is spotless and is highly recommended. Actually appreciated no electricity as the phones and iPads ran out of battery. We actually had to talk amongst ourselves hehe! Was great, booking back here later in the summer! Not the quietest place I have been to, but you can't be in town and expect quiet. Slept well, had wonderful walks and now also looking to go back to enjoy the boat, train and bus trips on officer locally.
