Great site convenient to many attractions

We stayed mid July 2023 and had a good time, yes there is road noise mainly during the day but it quietened down overnight. We enjoyed daily walks around Stover Country Park and the site is convenient to Dartmoor which is not far away. Access to the site is easy and only minutes away from the A38/Devon expressway. Newton Abbot is not far with lots of shops, restaurants and supermarkets including Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Asda and Aldi, and we enjoyed a walk around Newton Abbot. The site now asks you to dispose of your rubbish and recycling in large bins which are kept by the main entrance. We did not find this a problem and I believe this is being rolled out to other sites across the network and is common at many CL’s. A visit to the nearby Trago Mills is recommended especially to get discounted fuel which at the time of our stay was 10p per litre cheaper for both petrol & diesel compared to other garages in the area and it’s a Shell. The House of Marbles is also worth a visit.

Lovely site but...

Lovely, well kept site and friendly wardens. BUT! The noise from the road is constant, incessant, morning till night. Our pitch was one of the nearest to the road but even at the other end of the site, it was bad. In all other respects this is a great site but sorry, we won't be back.

Grerat site shame about the waste facilities

We have stayed at this site many time and loved it, great access to surrounding area and easy relaxing walks from the site around stover lakes. On our last visit they were trying a new system of rubbish disposal, all rubbish is now in a area near the entrance this is ok if you are able-bodied and can walk from one end of the site to the other, and bearing in mind a lot of slightly disabled or elderly campers don,t advertize their personal disabilitis or limitations will find this VERY inconvient. Before there were various areas dotted about the site to dispose of your rubbish so small frequent trips with light bags of waste was not a problem. I can see a situation where less recycling is being done as bigger bags full of mixed waste will be placed outside campers rigs and dropped of when leaving site with less regard to recycling. Please bring back the old system!

Another Great Visit

This site is, in our opinion, a little cracker. It is beautifully maintained and very easily accessible even for the largest of outfits. Large, level hard standing pitches with many fronting/backing onto vast areas of grass so it all feels quite spacious. There is a small dog walk but with Stover Country Park literally next door, this isn't a problem. Golf course across the road and bus stop outside the site. It is ideally placed for trips to the coast or Dartmoor or just sitting and relaxing. Although nearly full during our visit, it was incredibly quiet - probably not attractive to families as there is no toilet block or play area. That said, if you're currently watching the pennies, at £20.70 per night (two adults) and you're happy to use your own facilities, then it offers great value for money.

A great hidden Gem

We arrived to a very warm welcome, straight away you felt you were in the countryside, yet the Devon express way was only up the road. The site has great access, easy to find and the site itself was immaculate, well spaced out, everything you'd expect of the club. Friday night a chip van visits the site not only great food but good value. Having 3 collies Dog walk is essential Stovers is brilliant, lovely dog walk, and even a bench to have 5. Go out the site and turn right, follow the pavement and just by the roundabout there's a gate into the county park, a must if you are staying at the site. We spent most our time in the park, exploring the history, the Canadian memorial and the old gatehouse. So much nature to see and although dogs have to be on lead around the lake, other parts they can run free and access the river. Trago Mills is a mile up the Road but not safe to walk, but easy to drive to and plenty of parking there's a Co-op, Trago sell a huge variety and outside is a fruit and veg Market. The Wardens Kath and Pete were so friendly, helpful and very knowledge and head warden Robbie the Westie was so cute and kept all in check. Thank you for a wonderful visit and we've already booked for next year would 100% recommend this site.

Good site for touring the area

The site is all hardstanding with no facilities, there is some road noise but this is the compromise of being off a main road , but the road noise did not spoil our stay , a Co-op 5 minute drive away for supplies and stover park is a short walk from the site entrance which has a good path around the lake , the site is well kept and has a fish and chip van on Friday ( didn’t use it so can’t comment on the food)

Great place for dog walking

We had a great stay at Stover. Plenty of walks in Stover Park just a short walk from the site. Even the dog walk on the site is good with a running stream that dogs can splash in. Visited Teignmouth a couple of times for a lovely walk on the beach. However on the last day of our stay (thursday) local farmer set off a very loud bird scarer which fired off shots in several directions .... this happened every so often during the afternoon. Our dog was troubled and I saw other people with worried dogs. I must admit it started to shred my nerves. It was really loud. We had enough and instead of staying the night packed up and left for home. Sad really the rest of the holiday was quiet and enjoyed it very much. Just beware if you go at seed planting time of year.

Suited Our Needs Perfectly

Our first visit to this no facility site for a five night break. Very easy access with a warm welcome from the on duty warden. There is no denying that it is a busy road but we were able to select a pitch to the rear of the site which was pretty quiet. Our nightly pitch fee for two adults, with the VAT discount, worked out at about £15.50 per night - excellent value for a hard standing pitch with electric hook up. Site is adjacent to Stover Country Park which offers some great walking. The Stover Trail can be followed, on foot or bike, either to Bovey Tracey in one direction or Newton Abbott in the other. Lovely, wooded on site dog walk - just a shame that the more bone idle dog owners seem incapable of clearing up the mess. There was some disparate shooting in the woods on some mornings which our dogs didn't like and made me jump on occasion! Other than that, a great site for short or long stay especially if you are on a budget.

Stay at stover campsite

The site itself is very nice and although it was busy during our stay was not noisy. The walks in the park are quite pleasant. Although trago mills is a very short distance away you cannot walk to it as there is no footpath along a busy road. One word of warning. The bus service from out side of the site is unreliable and the drivers aren’t the friendliest you will come across so beware of this.

Thank you for a Great Stay

Great no facility site with two busy hardworking wardens. Access to site is good, Stover Country Park next is great especially if you have dogs. Bus stop ideally situated outside, ideal site to be based on to visit the surrounding sights of Devon. We have read a previous comment and would like to give our experience, we had some sad news whilst there and had to change our plans somewhat. Kath was helpful and sympathetic over our news and sorted our trip out by booking us a different site stop on another site and cancelling another along with other help given. Easy to criticise but not until you need their help do you appreciate it. We are very grateful and look forward to returning.
