2 Nights 29 April 2019

This was stop 3 on our multi-stop tour from Lincolnshire to Scotland (and back) with 2 nights here after a two and a half hour drive from Berwick Seaview. Easy to find following satnav from the A725 and a really nice welcome from Samantha, the warden in reception who was also very helpful with directions for fuel and attractions nearby. This site is quite large with very well spaced pitches. There are several cultivated areas of flower beds and shrubs which break this big site up into a comfortable feeling of privacy giving your pitch a more secluded feeling which is really nice with the surrounding trees and nearby park giving a relaxing atmosphere. Only one of the two toilet/shower blocks was open on out arrival but the site was only partially full. This site had one of the best amenity blocks I have encountered. It was large, warm and very well maintained by the wardens. As mentioned by an earlier reviewer it even had piped music which was great to hear. I did hear people singing along from the shower cubicles but I don't think that Gareth Malone would find any prodigies here. . . We took a picnic and did the three and a half mile walk around the loch which made a really nice day out. Didn't have time to visit Glasgow on this stop though. There is constant background noise from the nearby traffic which is an issue to some people. Personally I prefer quite but it depends on how you feel about the sound, horses for courses here I think. Some reviews have mentioned the noisy boy racers in the park during the evenings but on our early in the week stay we didn't really hear any of this, perhaps it's more noticeable at weekends. We tried the nearby Toby Carvery which was good value and used it again for a breakfast on our last morning. It saved on a bit if time and was a last day treat. Not sure about Yorkshire pudding and breakfast gravy in the morning though. Strange~ Summary: A lovely well laid out site with a great team of friendly and helpful wardens. Be aware that there is a constant low level of road noise though. Next stop Bunree Club Site.
