Good for families

Good transit site.

We made an overnight stop at this site on both our outward and return journeys on a tour of Scotland’s west coast. The site is conveniently situated beside the M74, is modern and well laid out with hard standing pitches along curved roadways giving varied aspects i.e. not in regimented rows. We received a friendly welcome from the wardens on both visits. Unfortunately the site’s location is both its triumph and its downfall. As highlighted by many reviewers there is, inevitably, a constant hum of traffic noise from the motorway and whilst this subsides a little overnight if you don’t have all your hatches ‘battened down’ it may well disturb your sleep. It’s close proximity to Glasgow with easy road and rail links makes it a useful base to explore the city but the description of the location as a ‘Country Park’ we found misleading. It is rather, a large urban park on the outer edge of the city. In summary we consider this to be an ideal ‘transit site’ but is not one at which we would choose to stay again other than on an overnight stop.
