Yearly Barney Visit

As always a great trip to Barnard Castle. Fabulous site, great location AND sun was shining !!! Lots of great places to visit this time being Raby Castle and gardens which was fantastic although read brochure first as Castle is closed on Mondays but gardens gorgeous and head gardener Geoffrey very informative on guided walk. Barnard Castle itself a lovely town with very nice independent shops. Discovered a jewel too not too far away in Seaham. Lovely unspoilt wee seaside town with great fish and chips topped off with a paddle ! Fantastic few days away. .

great site

lovely site, modern"ish" facilities. Well managed site, really clean and well groomed. Friendly team ready to chat. Really close to the town which is a treat. Great pubs, shops and a market. HIGHLY recommend - Access is good too, nothing too stressful

Second time on this site. Came here for first outing in our motor home.

Came here for first outing in our motor home. the staff were really friendly and helpful. Came back a second time with our grand children. We got a pitch near the play area , which they were in at every opportunity. Good walking distance for kids to get into Barnard Castle, with a play area on the way in. We visited Hury reservoir to fish, the road is a bit narrow for oncoming traffic in a motor home. Called into Raby castle on the way home ( parked in catch parking area) Is in good location for visiting the area.

Wonderful stay

Thank you so much for the wonderful stay. The site is beautifully situated, well maintained and the cosy village of Barnard Castle is within walking distance. Special thanks also to the charming wardens.

Beautiful Barnard Castle

Our first visit to Barnard Castle site and loved it, listening to the birds and wildlife. Easy walk into town, we went along the road but soon walking next to the river. Great town with good shops and facilities and good fish and chip shop - 149. We went to High Force & Low Force and parked the camper at Bowlees visitor centre and walked between the 2 waterfalls. Handy drying room on site too.

Second visit and we will be back again

Great site and easy to get to. We used the service pitches which were great. There was a bit of road noise but nothing to bother us. Can’t comment on the facilities as we used our own. Wardens were very friendly. Easy and lovely walk into BC. We opted to walk through the woods and by the small river which was a 20 minute walk. It’s easy to walk on grass verges along the road though. Plenty to do in the area.

Second visit

A great location within walking distance of a lovely town. On a good bus route (important to us motorhomers). Masses to do in the area.

Good 4 night stay

Spent 4 nights at Teeside CAMC just outside Barnard Castle. Nice site with a small dog walking area. Really nice walk into Barnard Castle took about 25 minutes through the woods and alongside a small river. Barnard Castle itself is really nice.....plenty of shops, cafes and pubs. Facilities on site were clean and not too far from any of the pitches. I would stop here again if we were touring the area.

Gem of a site

Just home from our 4th stay. We love this site as it’s in an ideal location for a short walk into town to visit the shops and pubs. The site is clean and well cared for and the wardens are great and really helpful. There is a playground for children which looks well equipped and maintained and a large dog walk area. The toilet block, dishwash and laundry facilities are clean and looked after and there is an information room with plenty of leaflets, taxi numbers and a book exchange. There are lots of walks both from the site and a little further afield and plenty of places to visit. This time we did a circular walk from Barnard Castle past the Bowes Museum and Egglestone Abbey. On previous visits we have walked round High Force and Low Force waterfalls. Durham and Richmond aren’t far away and worth a drive out to.

Excellent stay

First time staying at Teesdale Barnard Castle site. What a gem of a site. Literally 5 minutes off the A66. Lovely warm welcome from all the wardens that we met. Lovely large pitches. The facilities were clean and warm! Nice walk from the site into Barnard Castle. If you’re looking for somewhere nice to eat, try the Raby Arms in Barnard Castle. Just a word of warning the floors do slope in there! We will certainly be using this site again.
