One of our top ten

Just came back from as motorhomers we find this a really good site, lovely walk into town, great fish and chips on site twice a week, shame the Pizza Van gave up we missed him. The wardens are lovely, very hard working the site is a real credit to them always spotless. Even though they are busy, they can always find time for you. The dog walk is fabulous at the moment, a whole field mowed into walkways, shame it will be going to create more pitches, but we can see why as it is such a nice place to be , love the market on a Wednesday and Saturday too I think. Only hope when all the work is done we get a good dog walk , not just the small one that will be left. Pity all the sites are not quite up to this standard but lots are. Thankyou Caravan Club

Visited October 2015

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit, even the inclement weather could not dampen our enjoyment of this lovely site and area. Barnard Castle is approximately a 15 min walk, the town had enough shops and pubs to suit most tastes. The caravan site facilities were spot on, the shower block and toilet's were so warm from the underfloor heating, my glasses steamed up each time I went in. The wardens were very helpful. The pitches are big. The site is just about perfect, one slight downside, the upper level pitches are a little noisy from passing traffic. A lovely holiday with great walks in beautiful countryside. We will be back. John and Sandra, both a young 68 years old.

Well worth a visit.

We stayed on the site for four nights. We found the wardens very friendly and helpful. The site looks as though it has been updated in the recent past and as a result, it is pleasant on the eye and clean. The toilet block is up to the standard that I hope for when booking a club site. Barnard Castle is well worth a visit and only a short walk away (part of the walk is on a grass verge but we didn't find this a problem). I can vouch for quality of the fare from a mobile fish and chip wagon that visits the site on Wednesdays and again on Saturdays. One minor grumble is the noise from the adjacent main road, minor being the key here though, nowhere near enough of an issue to put us off. We certainly will be returning to this site in the future.

A lovely Site

Stayed at this site last weekend and we had a lovely stay.  The very friendly wardens could not do enough to help.  The site was spotless and pitches are very large.  You can walk into Barnard Castle when the path is open (too muddy when we visited). Some lovely pubs in Barnard Castle serving great food.  The Redwell Inn next to The Golf Club) is lovely. All in all a great site and we will certainly be back.

Pleasant stay

We enjoyed this site a bit of road noise but nothing to worry about. A nice easy walk into the very pleasant town, would have liked to stay longer and will certainly return

Enjoyable Site

We had a lovely week on this site in September. I would not be put of this site by the comments about the road, yes you do get a bit of noise from the road but we never found this a problem at night. The wardens on site were helpful and friendly, the visiting fish and chip van was good that comes on a Wednesday and a Saturday. It was a 20 minutes walk into to the town from the site and is a pleasant town with plenty of pubs and coffee shops. We are hoping to return soon

Welcome to Barney

This is an excellent site nicely situated within walking distance of a busy but small town. The fish and chips on wednesday and Friday are fabulous.

Great Site But..........

This was out first visit to the site and we hadn't really appreciated how busy Lartington Lane was. As the site was quite full, there was a limited choice of pitches and needless to say, they were all by the road. If we visited again, I would definitely want to be at the other side of the site. The wardens are really friendly and the site offers everything in terms of top notch facilities. The dog walk is a four acre field, which given the road situation, was a boon. However, it is accessed between pitches 44 and 45 (or thereabouts) and personally, I wouldn't have wanted to be on either of these with the constant comings and goings. The fish and chips from the visiting van were lovely. Plenty to do and see in the area including High and Low Force. It is also worth having a drive up to the nearby reservoirs - free parking and some lovely walking. Barnard Castle is a busy little town and has all the necessary facilities to keep you ticking over. As a footnote, if you use Google Earth to check out sites - this one isn't on there yet. You will find yourself looking at the Camping and Caravan Club Site (also on Lartington Lane) but set further back. Just to confuse everyone, it is also marked up at the Caravan Club Site.

Still as great as ever.

This was our third or fourth visit to this lovely site, and it remains one of our firm favourites. The dog walking field has had pathways mown through the long grass so that you have the option of keeping your dog away from others or letting it mingle as you choose. The fish and chip van was there as expected on the Saturday and doing a roaring trade - it is worth queueing for!- and the facilties were every bit as clean and warm as always. Staff are lovely and friendly. One of our usual walks was curtailed due to the pedestrian bridge over the Tees being closed, but there was a lovely alternative walk through the field just before you come to the bridge, through the woods on a tarmac track and along an old embankment to Pecknell Farm, which the dog and I enjoyed thoroughly. We had a couple of marvellos sunsets and a lovely sunrise over Barnard Castle on our second day. We will be back.
