I was lucky enough to stay at this site on 6 and 7 October 2019. The directions were spot on and I managed to arrive without any wrong turns on my way back down from the Western Highlands of Scotland. The lady warden checked me in and and was extremely welcoming and friendly. The items on sale in reception were very handy. She gave me a couple of handouts showing walking directions to the town and a bus timetable. The shower block and toilets were immaculately clean. All the service points were very well organised, clean and tidy. The market town of Barnard Castle is a delight and a lovely walk from the site. The site was very peaceful and where I was pitched I could hear the river rushing along. Will definitely visit again in the Spring/Summer to take advantage of the good weather.
