Nice for a visit. But probably wouldn’t return.

Friendly wardens who keep the large and very clean shower block spotless. We were grateful that the closing times for the cleaning were in the afternoon instead of the morning. The wardens were also really vigilant in dealing with some irresponsible dog owners who were letting their dogs off the lead etc. Excellent location for visiting Tewkesbury. Can get very wet - we had a gravel pitch - was great. Would not recommend grass pitches. The site is usual CAMC standards although was disappointed that it’s basically surrounded by council flats and houses and a car park. The Abbey is well worth a visit. If you fancy a meal out or takeaway then Salerno Italian is fantastic. Tewkesbury itself is a mix of beautiful historic buildings and tatty looking houses. Not your ‘traditional’ Cotswold feel to it.

Can be very, very wet!

This is a unique site and does get flooded. Wellies are a must. My pitch was small as I had to stay half on the gravel to ensure I could move in the morning. I was only staying 1 night so this wasn't a problem. Be aware if the forecast is for rain! Excellent position for a stroll into Tewkesbury and lots of (muddy) walking nearby.

Great site

This site is a great size. Great mix of types of pitches. The hard standing are great, block paved and not stones. Location is great. Walking distance from park, restaurants, pubs and down. Supermarket about 20 minutes walk. Clean and well kept Site. Wardens very friendly. Stayed about 3 times now. If you do parkrun, the field opposite does it!

Superb location with excellent facilities

The site is a bit more car parky than screened off separate areas. The location could not be better for exploring Tewkesbury and the abbey. All the staff we encountered were very friendly and helpful and the facilities were the best we have seen. Already booked to go again for the medieval festival.

Autumn Visit

We like visiting the Tewkesbury area and have stayed on the site several times. On this visit we chose a non awning multi-surface pitch but found the double pegging system awkward finding only a short space to step onto outside our entrance door but a large empty space on the other side. Euro Vans with doors on the opposite side fair better, it seems a strange use of space more suitable for a car and caravan but even then not very accommodating. Quick entry to site with the new prepaid booking system, given a site map on entry but not the usual local and emergency information.

Lovely site but TV reception not good on this visit

Stopped at the Abbey Club Site previous years with good TV reception but not this time. We were on pitch 84 fully serviced and previous visit other years we have used adjacent fully serviced pitches. This time the TV reception was terrible and most of the time just breaking up. Perhaps time for a site system like many others and it certainly costs enough. The staff are great and very helpful. Facilities are super clean and warm.

Pleasant Few Days with reservations

Just returned from the site after a 5 day stay. We have been members for 40 years and probably stayed on the site about 35 times starting in 1983 when it was just a field with a wooden hut for an office and two toilet blocks. In those days it was still a very busy site and very pleasant. Over the years there have been changes but not in our opinion for the better. I think it is a classic example of how the Club uses it as a profit centre and recognises it can make a lot of money if you pack the outfits in. It feels more like a parking lot than a nice caravan site. Toilet Block is superb now, but general maintenance needs more care. The grass around Pitch 76 has not been cut for some time. It is full of dandelions and the tree/bush vegetation is badly maintained. Needs more money spending to keep it looking nice as well as acting as a 'carbon catch'. Pitch 76 has LOUSY TELEVISION RECEPTION (shielded by toilet block). So paying £32.80 per night is NOT GOOD VALUE. Another example of how the club is using the 'club status' as a tax avoidance measure. When site was re-vamped it should have included TV on the bollards.

A favourite site

Tewkesbury is a beautiful and interesting place to visit. We've been many times, and the campsite is perfect. Friendly, helpful staff, spotless facilities. It's almost worth coming just for a really good shower!
