Our first visit to The Howard

Wardens are lovely friendly people and the site is a credit to them. We found the hardstanding pitches lovely and level. We pitched on the left hand side backing onto the road and at first did not see a problem but the traffic is constant with cars and agricultural vehicles. No Wi-Fi or phone signal on site but you can get Wi-Fi at the Coachman Inn opposite the site or at Abbey tea rooms. We had the Sunday lunch at the other pub in the village £10.95 it was ok. The meal at the Coachman Inn was nicer but cost more. You cannot get a mobile phone signal unit you reach the main road to Pickering 7,5 miles or go up onto Danby Moor. The site was suited more to dog owners and walkers. No shower block but shower for the dogs Lol. You can arrive between 10-12 which is unusual and is a big problem as approach roads very narrow and site narrow, as it is built on what was an old railway station.
