Quiet couple of days

The site is perfectly located for the town of Thirsk just a couple of minutes walk its also handy for the surrounding area A19 not too far away and a good leap off point for visiting other places like Ripon Northallerton Middlesbrough York all are within 30 to 45 minutes striking distance,the site was quiet through the day and the nighttime wasn't too bad albeit traffic noise does come through,the wardens were very helpful and friendly not too keen on the communal sinks but heyho its camping.

noise

Well what can I say about this site if you want the convince of being close to the facilities of a local town then its great. If you want peace and quiet then forget it. There seem to be a problem of boy racers reving there engines and speeding about in thirsk that must be being ignored by the local authorities. Its a bit like mad max at night also there was a fair bit of dog fouling that hadn't been cleaned up by people on the site. Would I stop here again no way. But I sure some people will think its ok.

First time this year

Having used this site three or four times a year for the past four years, this was our first visit in 2016. We were quite surprised not to see Linda and Graham (wardens) who we were to discover had retired. But not to be disappointed the two ladies who have taken up the mantle are a credit to the club. The ground pitches and facilities are immaculate (keep up the good work) and we will return many more times I am sure.

Tour de Yorkshire

We visited this site over the bank holiday weekend to watch the Tour de Yorkshire pass through Thirsk market sq. Although the weather was very wet we had a great time and the town centre atmosphere great. We visited on a race day, so had the bonus of watching some horse racing from the rally field. The two wardens were great, moving people back on site after the racing with no dramas in the heavy rain, and dealing with people trying to leave in the mud and heavy rain on the bank holiday Monday with great professionalism. Good site, toilets very clean but a bit tired. Very handy to walk into Thirsk where there are nice shops, pubs, cafes and restaurants. Tesco and Lidl within 5 minutes walk. Bit of road noise because, at the end of the day the site is next to the town, but not a problem.

Race day Stay

First time on this site and thoroughly enjoyable. We usually use 5 van sites, but thought we'd have a change and attend the races. We were well informed about the use of the rally field, but we were not aware of the need to move off again at the end of racing until we arrived. This unfortunately meant an alcohol free day at the races for the driver, which was the only real negative. Quick rain/hail shower added to the excitement during the move, but the wardens remained cheerful and efficient throughout despite the challenges set by some members.

Twos company

Fantastic central site very clean well looked after site. Quiet site would suit couples but wouldn't rule out famililies for the location if visititng Thirsk.

boy racer nightmare

We spent a week at Easter 26 Mar-2 Apr 2016. We were pitched on arrival in the corner behind Lidle supermarket.Our first evening was ruined by the constant high speed driving of boy racers with very loud exhausts until the early hours, and then again from 0530 in the morning.As a result we moved the next day to the other side of the site were the noise was not as bad but still very noisy.The cars appear to do a circuit leaving Tesco car park and along the road running alongside the site at very high speed.This activity happened every night until very late and caused us and our two grand children great upset. I telephoned the police on 101 and spoke with them on four occasions,This appeared to have some effect towards the end of the week. Additionally the wardens who were very sympathetic contacted the police also.How other reviews can mark 5 ticks for peace and quiet is beyond me! We will not be returning !!

Lovely little site

We had a lovely time here. I had a bit of problem with my booking of my pitch no fault of anyone part from my own. The girls manage to sort it out for me . The caravan park lovely nice and quite and flat. Thirsk town centre only 5 mins work. The train station only 20 min walk . The only problem that I came a cross was the main gate was looked at 9pm on night .we had to leave our car outside the gate one night which I was not comfortable with . I can understand the security reason .But if we need to get out during the night for emergency it would be impossible . The girls are doing a great job

Fantastic site so close to Town

Loved the site & location, only disappointment it closes 4th October! Just a 10 min walk to Thirsk with a great selection of shops bars a eateries. We will be back.
