Good value for money

Really friendly and helpful wardens. Yes, facilities block is dated but it is clean and provides washing up area, laundry etc and given charges/costs I didn’t think that bad. Not great views but handy location, central to town, supermarkets next door, dog walking with easy access to off road paths with views etc. Thirsk is ideally placed for adventuring further into beautiful part of the country.

Really really nice Wardens, + great location

Stayed here from 16th to 20th March 2023. Wet underfoot, but Wardens were extremely helpful and friendly. My Motorhome wasn’t really suited to soft grass, which was most of site! Anyway pitched on the bit of hard standing available, had a great time, site really handy for Thirsk and all it offers. Managed to trip out 10am supply, again Wardens friendly and helpful! (Sorry). Read previous reviews, and yes the facilities aren’t the usual for CMC but they do tell you that..facilities are spotlessly clean though. Would stop again no problem. Sorry I cant remember the names of the two wardens!!

Great Site

Ignore all the negative reviews on here - This site is great, the staff are friendly, the facilities are clean and tidy, and the location is great for Thirsk and the nearby train station. I’m sure if the club wanted to they could invest in new facilities but then isn’t better that we don’t pay two or three times more on pitch fees?

Never Again

although the wardens are very nice and work hard to keep this relic of a site spotlessly clean, and ofcourse the location is just great with easy access to town, the improvemenys needed to bring this place up to club standards are endless.

Travellers

The Thirsk site is in a great location only a few minutes walk from town. Lots of places to walk and lots of dog friendly pub. The toilets on site need a desperate upgrade. My problem was the locking of the site down as there were travellers in the area and also the attitude of the staff. We were told the site was being locked as travellers were apparently in the area. This was fine though we did not know that this meant that we could not WALK of site as the barriers were chained across the entire entrance. A sign with a phone number on it said call and the staff would come and open the gate. We called twice on the way out with no response so had to climb over the gate and lift our not small flat coat retriever over as well. On returning as 8.30 again we called with no response so again climbed over the gate. At 10pm while walking our dog in the designated area I heard an elderly couple trying to get onto site. They had rang the number with no response and were attempting to climb the gate. I volunteered to go to the office to get someone to open the gate. When the member of staff got down the couple had managed to climb the gate. As you can imagine the elderly gentlemen gave out stating that there was no need to have closed the site. The attitude from the staff was deplorable - they told the elderly gentleman that if he hadn't drunk so much he could have climbed the gate and gave the couple some other choice words. Talking to some other couples on site they mentioned that there were two couples who managed the site and one coupled were fantastic and the other hateful. My problem is that with all the funds received by CAMC I find it hard to understand why there is no gate to stop cars and motorhomes entering site while still allowing people on foot to enter and leave. My second problem was the attitude of the staff it was deplorable and hopefully this elderly couple have complained officially for the way they were treated. Although Thirsk site is in a great location until I see it has a proper gate and new staff I for one will not be returning.

Excellent location - shower block appalling (athough clean)

We stayed at this site a number of years ago and enjoyed the area and the good location of the site to supermarkets and town centre as well as the surrounding area. We stayed in early June this year and enjoyed good weather - the site was busy but we did not feel cramped in The wardens were very friendly and welcoming and the site and facilities were very clean. However- these must be the worst toilet/shower facilities we have seen in our many years of caravanning, we are told we pay membership fees and higher than average site fees as facilities on club sites are superior to commercial sites! This is absolutely NOT the case on this site how it passes a health and safety inspection is beyond comprehension. This comment is in no way a reflection of the wardens they are working with what they have and as we say it is clean. We would not return until the facilities have been replaced.

Disappointing

Very nice staff, convenient for shopping but facilities were very disappointing. The toilets and showers are desperately in need of upgrading, the showers are in my opinion an accident waiting to happen.

great location

we stayed for 4 nights. good location for Thirsk and surrounding area. easy access to 2 local supermarkets. easy walk into Thirsk, a lovely town and the James Herriot museum is a must. good dog walk on site, but also a good walk along the back road also, and around the town, we were positioned right by the dog walk, there was a bit of traffic noise but nothing to spoil your holiday. toilets yes, need to be updated compared to other sites, but adequate, you dont live in the toilets do you! Wardens were very helpful, the camp was nearly full when we visited but because the pitches are quite spacious, you didnt feel that it was so full. Yes, we would stop there again,

Dangerous showers

Easy to find and convenient site. A hassle if you need to leave for racedays but easy to avoid those days. Showers are shabby and need updating. Most worrying issue was a high ledge to step over getting in or out and no grabrail, potential hazard!

Wardens very helpful and friendly Toilet block a bit dated but clean and tidy. Small cubicles butt same as you caravan. Excellent value for money. We will be back
