Unbeatable View

We made a last minute booking and I'm so glad we did. Two friendly wardens checked us in, as previously mentioned in other reviews we were given a marker to 'bag' our pitch. It was good to be able to do this and see the pitches 'in person' and we chose one with a really good view - but I would say most have views better than regular sites. We made use of the motorhome service point and then settled back to enjoy the view. Our pitch was a good size & level, the shower/toilet block was warm and every time we visited was clean. The site was well cared for too. We loved it and hope to return some day- but not in high season as I imagine it would be a very different experience then

Scenic campsite

A very scenic and peaceful site with direct access to the coastpath .There is a good bus service from the campsite turn off road, allowing visits to Bude,Crackington Haven Tintagel and Boscastle etc. It can be quite windy due to its location. The warden was helpful and the facilities are well kept and clean.

Great site, let down by seasonal second facilities block

this is a great site with stunning views in a wonderful location, and because of that i have been returning several times a year for many years. However as I am not retired yet, and can only arrive late on Fridays we always end up on the extension field which is great for the dog, however the nearest toilet block is now pretty much for me out of bounds as a wash and shower area and i only use it for the obvious. they might as well not put it up it so sad.

Love the site but........

Have visited this on on many occasions over the last few years and love the location, views and friendliness. However this visit was slightly marred on arrival due to an officious greeting regarding our arrival which was 20 minutes early. Admittedly we did miss the laminated signs at the top of the lane stating “if you arrive before 13.00 keep driving” I did not expect to enter the site early but to wait until one and perhaps walk the dogs. As I approached the office to find it closed a lady emerged from a static caravan to inform me that we were not welcome until one o’clock. I said that’s fine we will wait in the car to which I was told I could not park in the very generous check in area which was empty and she would open the barrier to allow me to turn around and come back in 15 minutes time! Anyone who knows Tintagel/ Boscastle area will know that the are not many places to turn around so it took the allotted 15 minutes to perform the unnecessary manoeuvre and return to site, Total madness. Anyway as already said can’t fault the site and the lack of courtesy of one member of staff won’t put us off returning

Wonderful location

We stayed during the busy last week of the summer holiday. When we arrived, check-in was manic, with an onslaught of arrivals but the staff did an astonishing job of managing this efficiently and we were on a nice grass pitch in 15 minutes. Apparently, this is an issue here as people arrive to grab the sea-view hardstanding pitches. Maybe the site should just give a choice of grass or hard when booking and allocate pitches at random on arrival to prevent this hassle for staff? It would be nice if one could choose either grass or hard at time of booking, as we need grass for our awning and it would be a guarantee we could use it, as it would be a problem if we found we could not, due to the space it takes up in the van. Views are fantastic and access to walks is brilliant, with Boscastle and Tintagel fine to walk to if you can handle coastal paths. We love the area around Pentire Point, which is a relatively easy 30 minutes drive. We did lots of walking, visited some amazing beaches for our lad to play and surf and some lovely cafes/farm shops. If you are in a camper, grass pitches may be a bit sloped, so bring some levelling ramps. Ours was flat and we needed grass, as I won't pitch our awning on stone chips due to the damage it causes. I would recommend some rock pegs or similar as the ground can be a bit stony in places and you might need at least a few where conventional pegs will not go in. The staff were super friendly and amazing throughout. The big shower block rarely seemed very busy despite a busy site. Some of the fittings are a bit dated but it all works fine and was nice and clean. An additional temporary shower and toilet block had been set up close to the tent field, which was major bonus to ease the load on facilities and reduce walks for those a long way from the main block. The site shop does stock some useful essentials, but be aware that there are no shops for quite a distance either way from the site, so ensure you have adequate provisions when you arrive. I know this is always a divisive point and certainly not a complaint against the club or staff, but there were way too many dogs on the site and I wonder if an exclusive area should be available for pre-booking if people want to bring them, then other visitors don't have to put up with them all over the site. Dogs tend to randomly urinate on posts, pitches and the like and it wasn't getting washed away due to the bone dry summer, so not very hygienic. Some also tended to bark repeatedly at anyone who passed by, which was a lot of the time. Most were well-controlled to be fair. A wonderful holiday and we will definitely return.

Unbeatable location but the facilities need updating

We arrived at Trewethett Farm mid afternoon after driving over from South Devon. We received a warm welcome and good advice about which pitches would suit us as we wanted grass with EHU because we had the dog with us. We found a pitch with great views, just above the tent area, very slightly sloping but convenient for water, bins and CDP. We stayed for 6 nights, had to wind the awning in and rescue our windbreak on the first night because of the wind, but the rest of our stay was great, with very pleasant weather. A great site for exploring the local area and also for the dog as it is right by the SW Coast path so no shortage of places for walking him. My only gripe is the facilities. At around £40 night I expect better than a couple of aged portacabins for loos and showers. I know there is also a facilities block a few minutes walk away, but this too is a little tired and in need of an update. I cannot however criticise the site staff, who do their utmost to keep the facilities clean and tidy. I did hear a rumour that they have been granted planning for a new, eco-friendly facilities block so I would certainly be interested in returning once this has been built. In summary, a fab location, great staff but with tired facilities.

Amazing site made even better by the quality of the staff

Stayed at this fabulous site for 5 days in July, only wish it could have been longer! All the reviews mention the fabulous views etc, but I want to stress that it is the wardens that help make this site great. We arrived on time knowing we would be able to choose a pitch, but I was totally confused about where the pitches were , couldn't work out the map! I was rescued by one if the male wardens who showed me to a good pitch that was vacant. The following 5 days, we watched just how hard the wardens worked, taking it in their stride when somebody became poorly and a helicopter had to land ... all in a days work for them. The site was kept spotless, the facilities always clean and the shop was well stocked. I loved the story of the development of the site in the information room. I must mention the wardens Beth and Mandy, who allowed us to move to a superb pitch on our second day, nobody had requested to move there and I asked if we could move, something we have never done before! In this case it was worth the effort for us as we had 4 lovely days of sunshine, beautiful views and excellent walks along the coastal path. I would love to visit here again. Thank you to all the wardens here who made our stay very special for us.

What a view!

Fantastic views, lovely site clean and immaculate pitch areas, friendly helpful staff, peaceful, great access to coastal paths. Wish I had been able to stay longer and will definitely visit again. This is a cliff top site so the ocean views are incredible and the sundown hours are beautiful, check the weather and wind forecast and if it’s blowing a breeze in the night and you are in a pop top camper it’s best to close it before bed to get a quiet nights sleep. By far the nicest site I stayed in the area, highly recommend!

Could not have wanted better!

This place has the best views and is brilliant! Staff are really friendly and the site is well looked after. Follow the site directions not your sat nav otherwise you will end up down a steep narrow single track road. We have a 10m RV and that wasn’t an issue for them, but we did have to call ahead and they allocated us a place prior to arrival. They are strict on the 1pm entry, but if you are there a while, turning up late doesn’t matter as people leave every day and you can easily move pitch. Great for walks and beautiful views of the north Cornwall coast. There is a lovely beach down one of the paths and it’s certainly worth it but check the tides as it isn’t there at high tide. For us it was the perfect base to then go out having a fantastic holiday in the region. We were fortunate that we had a tow car, though our neighbours did hire a car and it was delivered to the site. The best pub we found was a 15 minute drive away, The Port William at Trebarwith Strand, it was a great night with good food and a stunning location over looking the sea. There is a Pizza van on site twice a week and the food is excellent. Oh and a tip for the lads, in the main shower block the first shower is by far the best and doles out masses of piping hot water! I expect the people who moan about the place are those that tried to bend the 1pm entry and didn’t like the outcome, so have an axe to grind. Play fair and respectful and you will not find fault here.
