Holiday 2016

The site itself is quite hidden from the road and on our arrival we were greeted by the helpful and friendly warden and after a drive round we found our pitch. The site is well laid out and kept to the high standards of the club. The site itself is ideally positioned for the exploration of the northern lakes and is quiet and peaceful however it is worth a note that there is an activity centre and working farm adjacent to the lower portion of the site which can be a little noisy as they have training sessions on quad bikes sometimes but this is not excessive and should not cause too much of a problem. There are two dog walks on site, the one to the upper part of the site where the serviced pitches are located is the best. We had a wonderful stay here and I would definitely visit this site again.

Lovely Site

We arrived for one of the hottest weeks so far, which also included thunderstorms. The pitches were generous and level - we stayed on a serviced pitch. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The toilet blocks were clean and spacious. The fish and chip van twice a week was an unexpected bonus. There are two dog walks, both were very clean and well kept, with the one at the end of the service pitches leading onto a woodland trail for the more energetic dogs. Where the site is situated makes it easy driving to get to most parts of Cumbria. The quietness was bliss!! Thank you for an excellent stay, and look forward to staying there again.

Another lovely weekend

Another lovely weekend at one of our favourite sites. No noise from the adjoining activity centre and we were pitched near to it. Some beautiful views from many of the pitches. Loo blocks were warm and I do love the extra large shower cubicles here - all very clean. Arrived at 6:45 and had to ring to get into the office, but it was no problem. Lady asked us to try to be quick in pitching so we could get back to the office quickly to give the pitch number and get our key fob - as she wanted to close up. Just an idea, but temporary fobs could be given to members who arrive after 6, then you could get your pitch fob the next morning. That way the office could be closed immediately after your entry to site. After retirement we will endeavour to arrive before 6, but it's difficult to manage to get there before 6 when still working.

Relaxing Break

I really enjoyed my stay at Troutbeck Head.  Lovely well kept Site and super clean facilities.  Busy Site but no queues for showers. Very friendly staff and guests on Site.  Far enough away from the main road not to hear traffic but close enough for getting out and about.  Had read other reviews about shooting noise from the activity centre next door but I only heard it a couple of times.  I was there in June so out of school holiday time.  I didn't use TV but u need a long cable to hook up to the aerial booster or the shop sells them. I had good mobile reception too. Dog walk off the super pitch end of Site good.  Lots of dogs on Site but not that you ever heard them.  A very relaxing stay.  Will definitely be back.

special place

This site is set in sight of the stunning and sublime Blencathra. The whole area is lovely. The wardens are exceptionally helpful and keep everything in great shape. Wonderful walks start close by and there are pubs and shops not too far away when you need them. If you haven't yet experienced this site; I suggest you get in a car, hitch up the van, and go there now!

Great site. Great staff.

Not the best weather for caravanning, but even in strong winds and rain the site was lovely and welcoming, easy to maneuver round and no risk or getting bogged down in wet ground. It has a lovely long dog walk from the top end of the site and a small dog walk along the entrance driveway. Amenity blocks are lovely and clean and warm and it was handy that there was always one open when the other is being cleaned, there was always plenty of hot water for showers and even though the site was busy I never had to queue. And there are recycling facilities on site with is a bonus, not all sites provide this and I hate waste so end up taking it all home normally. The reception sells basics which is good as you always forget something. We are new to caravanning, and this was our first experience of a caravan club site but will not be our last. It is also within easy access of the rest of the lakes and we had a lovely run to Glenridding. Oh and not to forget the fish and chip van that visits twice a week, we took enough food for the weekend but could resist trying them. We didn't have the best start to our weekend due to an issue with the stabilizer on the caravan but the staff on the site went out of their way to help us and with the help of some tools and sheer determination managed to get us unhitched and onto the pitch. It saved our weekend and we will definitely be back.

Lovely site

Just returned after a five day stay.  Immaculate site as ever. Fish and chip van a must on Fridays and Tuesday's. Sportsman Inn off the main road good for food. Keswick lovely as ever, derwentwater wonderful.  So sad to see the devastation at Glenridding and pooley bridge after the flooding last year.  It will take years to bring it back to how it was - having said that they are still open for business so please give them your support. Despite the lovely setting of this site I'm beginning to think that it is getting too costly - £29 per night is too expensive for the facilities offered, particularly as there is still no WIFI.  It is not on that you buy caravan club wifi for the year and then cannot access it on some sites.  Not good enough CC.  In this day and age WIFI is a necessity not a luxury - sort it out!

Again we used this handy site for a stop over going down south, and again on the way back up home to Stonehaven ,Aberdeenshire. We like this site more every time we return.Like all Caravan Club sites it is clean, but Troutbeck toilets are dated and could do  with an update.Wardens are very good and helpful .We look forward to our next holiday down south and will go back to Troutbeck

Nice site but

The site is very well looked after. Pitches are a good size, well spaced out. The but is how do members say it's peacefull. The activity centre next door run quad bikes to the deviding fence. Theres also every off road buggy you can think of, plus a shooting range. Tranquility I don't think.

Dog friendly

Lovely site, nothing not to like. Loved being able to walk straight from site into forest with the dogs. Dog walk along drive adequate for early morning and last thing at night. Can recommend the Sportsman for a meal, with a lovely view thrown in! Just breath taking scenery in every direction.
