A very clean and well managed site, the facilities are excellent and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Only issue on the site were children riding bikes at speed going the wrong way on the one way system, worried they may get hurt colliding with on coming vehicles
Very convenient location on way to Scotland
We had a 2 night stay recently at Troutbeck during our recent heatwave. Fear not from earlier reviews the midges weren’t that bad just a few nibbles and the noise for us non-existent, just a lovely peaceful stay. Just bear in mind there are no nearby shops to walk or cycle to that easily so stock up before you come or be prepared to take your camper out for a trip. Ullswater is not too far away but quite a long walk that’s not that well defined so worth checking before you leave. In our case ideal stop over should you be going north as not too far to Scottish border. Enjoy.

Troutbeck head.
Our fourth visit to this really fantastic rural location where the site is kept spotless by the tram of friendly wardens. We had an issue with our brakes locking up on our caravan and three wardens came to our rescue and sorted the issie out. Cant thank the hard working team enough. The toilet blocks are both spotless at any time during the day. This site is ideally located to explore all parts of the lakes with Penrith and Keswick just a few miles away for your provisions. Highly recomend this site which ticks all the boxed for us.

Peaceful Cumbria
Beautiful site.
Booked a super pitch with water and drainage - well worth the price
Will definitely return to explore the more remote/less ‘touristy’ parts of the Lakes

Lovely stopover
We just stayed one night on our way from the Midlands to Scotland. There is a woodland walk directly from the site. There are two amenity blocks so there is always open. Lovely stay and very friendly staff. Thank you
Perfect peaceful place
First visit to this site but certainly will not be the last! Beautifully located and kept, extremely friendly and helpful staff, good sized pitches (we were on a fully serviced), at one with nature, red squirrels made daily visits. Easy to get to most of the Lakes and not a site that suffers when it rains.
Beauty of the Earth
Just returned from a fabulous 4 days on site . Peace and tranquility and with one with nature . The facilities are spotless and the staff are the most friendly we’ve experienced for a long time Nothing was too much trouble and even when our electric blew , Warden arrived ready and equipped to sort us out . Great location for touring the lakes and gorgeous scenery to be seen all around . Travelled along single track roads to get to done fabulous locations as well as the lovely towns of Keswick , Ambleside , pooled bridge , Ulswater , Grassmere , Buttermere and numerous other villages . We were on pitch 105 and no noise heard . We also didn’t get bitten by midges but did use a blue fluorescent light to avoid them . Definitely will be booking a return trip and next time will take swimwear to open swim in the lakes
Lovely site but a bit of noise!
An absolutely gorgeous site with all the usual facilities and lovely staff. However I have knocked a mark off as there was quite some noise directly behind us (pitch 79) from a shooting range. It made our stay not as peaceful as it should have been. Nevertheless a nice site in a stunning location.
Poor site for nervous dog
We were happy with our pitch nice and private with the beck running in front of us although there were alot of midgies. The site has good facilities with friendly helpful wardens, the big problem for us was the activity centre directly next to the site, there was Clay Pidgeon shooting and quad bikes on and off for most of the day some days starting at 8.o'clock. We have a nervous dog and she was very upset with all the noise, shaking, panting and wouldn't eat, we tried to stay off site all.day which wasn't ideal as we wanted to walk for a couple of hours and then chill. So although a nice.site we will not be visiting again.
Good location for start of Lake District break - beware the midgies!
I can’t fault the cleanliness and location of the site, though you definitely need transport to visit the area or have a good level of fitness to explore. We enjoyed the 22 mile cycle into Keswick which is on quiet roads and the old railway track which is stunning.
Our biggest problem was the local insect life. We live in Scotland and are well used to midgies and the ones at Troutbeck are on an advanced level so be prepared!
