It remains one of our favourite sites. We were lucky enough to get a pitch in our favourite area of the site, with an uninterrupted view of Blencathra in all its glory. It’s always beautiful, but this time, with varying amounts of snow, it was wow! This is a lovely, open site with a spacious feeling. The new hard standing pitches on the old grass pitches are a wise move. The refurbished loo blocks are perfectly clean and well looked after by the wardens, but I have to say they were a bit of a disappointment. They used to have underfloor heating, a real luxury, now gone. The old huge showers have now gone. However the new ones are standard club showers, so can’t complain. There is one extra shower – the world’s smallest shower! You have to stand diagonally to be able to bend down to wash feet. Also, no shelf/seat. The loos are all together now, no problems there, and there is loads of space, but not even a hook or a shelf to put things on and you have to resort to putting coats, towels and wash bags on the floor while washing hands. The wardens were all very pleasant and professional and when the electrics went off on our pitch they were very quick to help us out. We can’t wait to return.
