Revamped and peaceful site

We visited the site for weekend break, unfortunately "Storm Callum" also visited the site at the same time. However apart from the constant rain and strong gusts of wind for a 24 hour + period, we loved it. The site has just had a revamp which is apparent as soon as you arrive. Unable to make a comparison as did not visit the site pre revamp. Lovely welcome by staff, despite the weather they seemed to just take it in their stride. Overflowing drains, a river running down the middle of the site, not a problem, Storm really testing everyone, but its why we love camping? Special breed. As you would expect for a recent major upgrade, washrooms and other facilities spotless, however do not take that away from the hard work that the wardens do, even the brand new get dirty etc, especially in the weather we had to deal with. So a very well done to the "burgundy and green brigade" a credit to the club. The site is a bit isolated so motor homers be prepared to walk a mile and half, for local bus services into Penrith/Keswick and beyond. Due to the weather conditions we opted to get a taxi, cost £24 each way into Keswick. Yes got soaked...but back in time for Strictley, closed the door heating on...lots of treats....you know how it is....will be back shortly...hopefully without Callum this time. TY
