Close to Town

We stayed here for a total of 8 nights in August attending a nearby event. Access to the site is straight-forward but note through Gate 3 - the last 100 metres or so is single track. Pitches are all fairly level although the hardstandings look as though they need some attention. You are given a key to the (somewhat dated) toilets and the main gate which is locked at night, although there is no other barrier to the site during the day (anyone can drive in!). An easy 10 minute walk to the town cutting across the railway station bridge which takes you to shops, pubs and restaurants. Unfortunately our stay was marred somewhat by other regular site users which has certainly put us off returning. Fortunately at night you could hear a pin drop, and suprisingly no noise at all from the trains apart from the odd toot during the day. The wardens friendly at check-in, but didn't see them around the site at any point at all which we found unusual for a CAMC site.
