Long stop over

Booked the site in the darkness of winter with the view of a stop over on the way to north Wales and not reading the small print at the time found it was a race meeting for the queen’s platinum weekend, with no admission on the day I had booked, I would of thought the system would of red flagged that date so remember to do your homework. Back to the site review make sure to enter through the third gate down Wood Lane, with all the race traffic you can lose your nerve when the track starts to get narrow and turn it to the stables turn which many did. I would suggest not to turn up before 1pm waiting space is at a premium and all you do is block the road up. Booking in was fine the wife said it was very friendly and helpful and remember the key for the showers and toilet which is under lock and key 24/7. The showers and toilet block reminded me of 70’s school toilets. We managed to find a pitch up against the race course rails but remember the track is watered with a certificated system so your car, van, awning and anything in its path will get wet. I would recommend putting large blocks under your legs the horses like good to soft ground but the caravan doesn’t. With the town a 15 min walk away by gate 2 and 20 min by the caravan site entrance its not bad and with Waitrose and Witherspoon on the way back for supplies it’s well situated, like most towns of the modern era it full estate agent’s and charity shops, but it’s worth a look. Any off to North Wales now hope that review helped
