never again

We have just returned from a 2 night stay here  The welcome was ok the site is lovely and peaceful but not for family’s as they don’t seem to cater for them in any way shape or form witch is a shame you are allocated your pitch and pay extra for a lake side pitch the lake is great for fishing and well stocked however you have to pay £8.00 a day on the big lake and £5.00 for the small lake The shop is very limited if you can call it a shop We found the shower block to be substandard at best you have to press the button for a shower and chase the drops for about 10 seconds and then press again smelt of damp and not at all hygienic you have to pay for hair driers in ladies Our pitch was next to a small bin that was over flowing and never cleaned all the time we were there and the woman in the office said we could chuck our grey waste in the bushes if we wanted to surly that will start to smell in the hot weather ive never ever heard of that nore would I do it  As for the wi-fi I think Barny Rubble and Fred Flintstone installed and used it as this is a waste of time to say the least  Having been to some fantastic  sites this year  like Kendal, Carsington waters and ferry medows and got spoilt there with the cleanliness, facility’s  and politeness of the staff and you come here I won’t say no more ? Why is the caravan club affiliated with this site as there are no concession’s for our members and to be quite honest get a lot less for your money  I would never recommend this site to anyone save your money and go 2 minutes down the road to a site called Woodlands Waters better, cleaner and cheaper

Hidden Gem

Stayed four nights from 6th June and were delighted with pristine site and facilities. Generous sized pitches in tranquil location, though not sure if it would suit families with young children. We are pleased to have discovered this hidden gem and certainly plan to return.

Lovely site shame about the wifi/electric bike hire

We stayed on wagtail for a week and it was lovely and peaceful excellent facilities but I would not like to see the site full because I am not sure there would be sufficient facilities The wifi was very expensive. getting to the location from the south was very dangerous for a car and caravan and the signage for the park needs to be a lot larger at the turn posts.having said that we had a very relaxing time nice walks and plenty of birds and other animals about The down sides for us were no newspaper sales very limited shop .and one of the main attractions was the advert for the electric motorcycle hire which though advertised was no longer available if that is the case do not advertise the facility

good site with lovely warden but what is benefit from being CC member?

I'll start with a question. What does the Club get out of this being an affiliated site? Members get zero out of it. The site admits members and non-members (unlike a members only affiliated site we have visited many times). The charges are identical to members and non-members. There is no benefit from being a CC member if choosing to stay at this site. Sandra the warden, and Colin the relief warden, are welcoming and very helpful. (I wish the same could be said for all CC wardens - sadly a minority don't fit this description.) In my experience the wardens can greatly enhance, or alternatively spoil, any visit. Here they enhance a visit. The pitches are large. (They are pre-allocated. We paid extra for a lakeside pitch.) The site is very well maintained. As are the facilities. (The facilities may look inadequate in number for the pitches but even when the site was full the toilet block close to us was hardly used.) The whole site is rather exposed and in some ways has a somewhat sterile feel, despite the lake. (I do not fish. I can see the lake could be a huge attraction for anyone who wants to fish.) There are some negatives. At a busy time direct access from the A1 northbound could be perilous due to right turn across A1. (No problem from A1 southbound.) The showers are push-button with a fixed temperature. To use the hairdryer (ladies only - none in gents) there is a 20p charge. Wifi is ridiculously costly. I used 3 dongle on laptop instead which worked well. No newspapers can be ordered. They can be bought from filling station on A1 but that isn't a trip one would necessarily choose to make before a leisurely breakfast.

A Very Pleasant Stay.

We have just returned from a 4 days break, at Wagtail Country Park, and what a very pleasant stay we had, what a very warm welcome we had when we arrived, also Sandra the site warden was a ray of sunshine, nothing was to much trouble if asked anything regarding the site and out and about the area. The Facilities were 1st class and very clean. Pitches were excellent and Fishing in the large lake was also excellent, with a wide range of fish also some very large fish caught. We will be returning very soon, for another short stay.

Great apart from the wifi!

This site was very quiet when we stayed midweek in May 2015, with many static vans and chalets. Perhaps not suitable for children because of the large fishing lake! Huge pitches, all hard-standing, with gravel everywhere (not small-wheeled cycle friendly...) Good welcome, handy for a number of places to visit. Excellent new toilet block, and the older one looked good. We had no electricity problems.  Beware that data via O2 phones is poor, though EE is OK, and the onsite wifi is very expensive and apparently not very reliable, though this could change at some point. Apart from this, recommended.

Easter 2015

1st visit to the site over Easter 2015, and yes the electric was a bit hit and miss to start with and the site was busy, I did speak to the site managers who explained that whilst 16 amps was readily available to all however when people over stepped this with domestic microwaves (i saw at least 2 in awnings) and awning heaters then the electricity trips, the shame was that the guilty culprits couldn't be traced due to the lack of individual trip switches on the electricity connections. I would suggest that Wagtail wasn't the only site that had this issue over easter.... That said the site was quiet, the wildlife was nice, dog walk around nature reserve was good and the pub in Dry Donnington  (The Wheatsheaf) is well worth a visit, will I go back? Yes.

Wagtail Electrics

What a lovely site, super large pitches, peace and quiet, great,THEN, the electric goes off,.Time and time again over the Easter weekend. I know the site was full and the evenings were cool, but you would think that they would have been prepared for it. When I called in the office on Easter Monday morning none of the staff were interested in my complaint."Go and find the Boss " I was told .A simple sorry from someone would have gone a long way to calming the situation down ,but not one of them said sorry.I shall not be going back again and I think several more members will react the same way.
